Tournament High Elf Team

Well I'm planning on playing HE at my next couple of tournaments so I thought (given how badly they normally perform) I'd see if I could get any suggestions for the team selection.
Lets assume no stars TR 100.
Now, HE normally perform quite badly in a tournament environment so I'm looking at putting together a more extreme list that hopefully would surprise a few opponents.
So what do you think of the following:
Lions
1 Dragon, 4 Lions, 1 Phoenix, 5 Line elves, 2 TRR, 1 FF
Dragons
2 Dragons, 4 Lions, 1 Phoneix, 4 Line elves, 1 TRR, 3 FF

I think I'd be tempted to take the first roster. I doubt 3FF is going to make a big difference over 1FF, and I'd probably need that extra RR

Thanks Ian, Some of them are'nt on the list yet but will be!
Keep the Phoenix Warrior. The Pass skill saves you the neccessary RR for other purposes. Take at least two catchers to infiltrate the behind lines. Your opponent can only blitz one at a time, the other ones either ties up two or three opponent players make room for your linemen, or can dodge free to get in to the endzone. Two Dragon Warriors is luxuary, but if you can afford them then don't hesitate, they are worth every penny.
Nice new AVATAR!

Heh heh. Wanna use those new figs before we get an official roster by any chance?
I don't think they're particularly viable in 100K, but I'm probably going to take them back to Spiky because it's 110K.
1 TRR? Ouch. You
will roll a few 1s per half, and with no Dodge, no SH and only 2 Block players to start it looks like a world of hurt to me. For that reason alone Lions looks better.
4 Lions is interesting, but 4 expensive AV7 players with no Block or Dodge in an 11 player-no apoth line-up culd be pushing it a little IMO..if you're gonna give up AV for MA to that extent then Welfs might be a better option. A LW and a DW weigh in the same as a Wardancer and a Welf lineman...

Some advice from a HE tournament player:
Student Nationals 2003 - High elves 1100000 - 3 TRR = WIN tournament
WPS 2003 - High Elves - 2 TRR - Come 8th....
I hate 2+ rolls - you NEED the rerolls with high elves in my opinion...
I am considering:
1 Phoenix warrior ( pass is a GOOD idea!)
2 Lion Warriors
2 Dragon warriors (block and M 7 - great)
6 linemen
2 RR and some FF
Now from what I can see of your list (more extreme than mine) I would go with the first option and hope. 2TRR is better than an extra block, and if you're gonna play to your strengths you might as well go for it....

In a league yes, but we're talking tournament teams here. They are very vulnerable without Block or Dodge though. Essentially they've got one more MA than a Welf lineman and Catch. My point was that if you're going to go for pace then Welfs are the better option. (It could be argued that the strength of Helfs is actually AG4 and AV8.)
For 110K at Spiky I took 2 DW, 2 PW, 2 LW, 5 Line, Apo, 2TRR and FF6.
For RD-V I dropped the FF to 1 for the extra TRR.
And I don't believe Helfs are competitive in a 1 mill tourney environment, but I'd probably go with something like 2 DW, 1 PW, 2 LW, 6 Line, 2 TRR and FF2.
And few tournies nowdays seem to use/track SPPs, so don't worry too much about PWs sucking them up.

Well if I'm going to get a stunning team to play with, I may as well show them off
My thoughts are that conservative HE teams may look better on paper, but have failed to deliver at tournaments. So I'm looking at a more extreme roster than the 2 Dragon, 2 Lion, 1 Phoenix, 6 Line, 2TRR, 2FF list that I'd initially think of.
I think 1 RR is a bit too much - it makes the team very unreliable.

I played with that conservative team at T5 and i was nt that bad.
finished 7 with best comeback and i played under all kind of weather..
With TR110, i only put 2 RR more (spiky 2002)

I think I'd be a little more conservative...
2 dragons:200
2 lions: 180
1 phoenix: 80
6 line: 420
2 rr
2 ff
much more balanced and versatile.

wel, in fact it wasnt exactly my team..
i went with:
2 dragons:200
2 lions: 180
2 phoenix: 160
5 line: 350
2 rr
1 ff
i prefer to have to thrower with HE. they re not expensive at all!

Well I'm *only* going to play high elves at tournaments at the moment - because they are my best painted team...
I'm actually surprised that they (and dark elves) don't seem to be that competetive at tournies... perhaps its the inability to soak up KOs and casualties....
Or perhaps its the players - my playing them at tournies should do them some good... er... hmmm
I think Ian has got a point - go with a radical team playing to the max rather than a conservative approach... but take rerolls - cos lion warriors make good blitzers, if you have them....
Deathwing> I prefer 110 TR tournies just because I think elves are better in league play (they get skills quicker usually) and so are naturally handicapped (thier cost) at the start... You may have a point about High Elves at the 100 TR level (I mean its hard to field 11 players!!!)

I like this team, if you can keep most of them on the pitch, then should be intersting.

You've missed part of the surprise concept I think...
