Check out the general defensive strategies in GalakStarscraper's excellent site:
www.midgardbb.com
You will find useful info for dark elves, and agile teams in general.
I will also add (although this is covered in the website in question) that you cannot apply a single defensive strategy for all types of opponents. It's not just about whether you're facing brutal or agile teams, but even whether you're dealing with fast agile teams, slow ones, etc.

Welcome to the supreme team. A great choice. Personally I don't think there is one way to set up a team. Depends on the oppo, the other Coach and whether you want to try out different tactics. Be free DE's are flexible.

nightdragon is right. there are times when you want to load up the line, times when you want to play way back, etc etc. in general though...
i put 3 line elves on the line. early in the team's existence i put 3 with the least spp up there so nothing is lost when they die. when i get better developed, it's nice to have blk/dge/sidestep guys so they (hopefully) don't die at all.
2 rows back i defend the wide zones. important to be 2 rows back or a quick snap will screw you. early on it's 4 line elves. when the team is developed i put a line elf on the ends, with witch elves next to the hash. They're in good position to whack somebody out of bounds. next to them (inside the hashes) I put 2 blitzers.
then another square or two back (depending on opponent's speed), I put the other 2 blitzers. so the overall setup is 3-6-2. Allows you to take advantage of your team speed to overwhelm the point of attack, or in some cases, allow you to fall back a few squares and pick your spot.
Offense is something else entirely, don't want to get into it.
