Dwarfes on the Run! - How to stop?

Hi!

Here is a line up from a dwarf player I will face next weekend.
Plays Title Here

I saw it against Undead and I can tell you that the undead player had nothing to laugh at every kick off. The dwarfes just ran over his players and munched everything in their way.
I had not known that dwarfes can run so fast before! :o

I play Orks and Gobbos with 3 Black Orcs und 3 Blitzers. How would your line up look like if you had to face the dwarf's line up?
If I am receiving it is not that hard, I can take the battle and put every Ork in the first line to beat the dwarfs up like hell, or I can make a step back so that the dwarfs will have to follow up (so thez only have one Block that round)

But what if I am kicking?

So, can anybody give me some advice what a good line up would be?

thats a poor set up for dwarves

just hit through at the side and run some players through and they have no deep defence so aren't going to recover from that

how is he going to pick up the ball with that lineup on offence?

If he really sets up like this when you kick, give him 3 lineorcs to chew on, keep the rest 2 squares back, blitzers at the side, make sure your kick stays in the field (have a kicker already? perfect!) and hope it scatters backwards. On your turn the setup will look different, but if he didn't get the ball yet, open his line with a BOB and run 2-4 blitzers through to tie up his runners.

Hm, going through the widezones...
could work!
With some luck my blitzers could make a nice run.

Well, of course it is a poor line up, but I saw that is works.
It's line up for smacking you hard only. Not for making the big points. Although, on defense, the dwarf girl made a TD in two turns :(

Dwarves can be beaten in battle. I don't know what your worried about here. Focus on a point and kick ass. With that set up your in the advantage. Use it.

I played against dwarfes two times before and HELL it is hard to beat them. They stand up at every next turn :x

Possible Setup

and after turn 1, something similar to this...
Make a wall that he can't run through, because you know he doesn't have the movement to run around you. #4 would likely have the ball, though if you want to build a tighter cage you could, but he will tie up your perimeter players.

After Turn 1

Use his speed and bad setup against him. Most common mistake I see in Blood Bowl, is the overpursue. Never leaving anybody back to take care of people that make it past the line.

Heck with that kind of AG you might want to try to pick up a wizard and chuck a fireball at him when his guys are standing close to eachother :smoking: Cough cough. Anyone want a dwarf chop straight of the barby?!?!?!

Wow Rudy!
That is kind of an interesting setup.
If I can get the Ball in Turn one it would be great. But unfortunately I often nedd 2 turns to pick up the ball und pass it to my running boy.

But I will keep this way of playing in mind for sure! It looks very very interesting!

I quite like that suggestion, along with the fire ball if you have the money.

1. I dont have the money
2. This League starts without any wizards... so no fireball... well, not as long as I give my boys Beans-and-Onions-Soup

5 Skaven left on the field at Turn 5 in 2nd Half is a god thing in my eyes :D

Even better if it was no Skaven.
