Are these ever worth taking? Seems like it would always be better to spend the money on FF/RR or another player... right?

Well, assitant coaches are good for that one result on the kick-off table as
there are no other modifiers to that dice roll.

Cheerleaders, however, are added to FF for the Cheering Fans result
(so IMO, not so important).

Gobbos & "flings especially will end up with more than a few Asst. Coaches,
as they are both cheap & easily injured --- also things like Zombies
are good to retire to assitant coaches.

Right troy.

never by them in your starting cash.

Ever...
even if you have 9FF and 10k spare...

save the 10k for bigger and better purchases.

The price is far greater than the return. They jerk your Team Rating up so that your winnings drop. Include them for fluff reasons only, or freeboot them when your treasury is an odd 5.000 figure.

I think i have never bought one, but i have however turned a retired player to assistant coach mainly because so i can win in case i get brilliant coaching.

consider buying cheerleaders when you're at TR 280 :)

I was looking at how many times FF is useful vs how many times cheerleaders are useful.. (one??)

Im thinkin they should cost like 2k not 10k... be nice to have some of them on the board :P

Suprizing this isnt something on the "too be looked at" list for the rules review. Having a "player" in the rulebook that is pretty much totally pointless in taking ?

I think most BB coaches got used to Cheerleaders being useless years ago. I only know one coach who uses them, and that's becasue he'd painted them already.

It is nice to have them on the board.
So I place them there - but because I didn't bought them, they don't "work" for me

He could always use them as reroll counters instead...I do.

they are overpriced for their minimal use. but over 180 tr if you have a full fit squad and 4 rerolls not much else to buy. Tempted to try it with my chaos dwarf side thery have loads of cash, full team, and 4 rerolls.
Cant buy more fan factor but the cheerleaders and coach do stop your oppnent gaining on these kick off rolls.

just buy them for the boobs and grey hair (you choose on which figures)

I'd rather freeboot a star player for a big game than hire on cheerleaders. CD's have some really great freebooters.

Intersesting to see that you guys still think they are worthless. :o

Assistent coaches will of course come with time due to retiring players, but I have a few cheerleaders as well. Now think of the reward you get-another rr, sometimes :-? . Not much, you think?

But think of the opposite as well-the opponent NOT getting a rr. Some teams will really need RRs at the end of a half, and denying them a rr might as well be of help to you. Suddenly, all die rolls will be crucial, and maybe you force your opponent into 'saver plays'. or it's you getting one if you need it. :?:

Fair enough for me to have a few assistent caches and cheerleaders. I would never start with them, but buying them if possible and there is not much need for anything else is an option for me.

Now, there was some thread long ago about how your team rating influences your winnings etc. Under the current rules, I am not afraid of the handicap-table and I can always reduce my number of assistent coaches and cheerleaders after a game, if I like. So I can influence the TR and thus the winnings myself! 10k spent easily on a new dougout-bitch can make a difference, believe me
