A use for Trolls

So I put off getting a Troll for my C Dw team since I didn't *need* one like more rerolls or more chaos dwarves or more hobgobs.

I got one two games ago though, having plenty of cash in the treasury. I got him to soak up damage more then anything else - the guard Chaos Dwarf Blockers do pretty well without a RS ST5 player.

Little did I know how well it would work though. He has no SPPs and hasn't done much of anything himself but he's been fouled three times in those two games...both victories...

Now, I'm really not that sure why the Troll was the target of choice for my opponents, but I am rather happy that's who they choose. If I was playing against me, the troll would come in around ninth in fouling order.

I may only play him on defense when I have a a full allotment of C Dw and Centaurs available, but he seems to be worth more then I thought he would be...that's for sure.

So anyone else notice how useful trolls can be as a damage magnet?

Wel, to be fair, standing there and taking it is about all they can do.

Um... isn't that standard definition, of what trolls are supposed to do anyways?

If he performs well in that job, then go and get him. Just like the tree for wood elves. His job is to stand there and take it while the elves win their game. Period.

yer think best plan is to leave him with little to do. He is a great one square wall, but *%^& all use otherwise.

Consider calling him Sweat FA it suits him.

I'd be saving those fouls for Bull Centaurs.

Give him Piling On as a first skill and he'll start to draw even more fouls away from your valuable players :) Plus he might even be useful and injure one or too opponents.

To me a Troll on a CD team is just a damage absorber with limited use strategically. But without question much more useful than an 8th Hobgoblin.

Who would foul a Troll on a CD team? This team realy dosnt need a troll so you are better of fouling those Hobogoblins or Bullcentaurs! But my Standfirm, Block Troll soaked up a lot of damage

A Troll on a CD team are just there to take hits.
I would not have bothered with fouling a skilless troll as those hobgoblins are much better targets.

Gets all the attention, that's good. Go Piling On on the first skill and watch your opposition "Dead & Injured" box get crowded !
