Hello,
I read fair amount of norse tactics and read a sticky Cockerel suggesitons for this wannabe-chaos-choosen-beer-drinkers-arse-slapers.
Since i like to fight my way to the endzone, and sometimes to drop a longbomb, are Norse the right team for me?
Any comments & suggestions from you guys?
Cheers,

yup, it's the one for you.
Make sure you handle the Frenzy well, if you handle it good, you'll probabely win, if not you're in deeeep trouble.
allways get a man out front, to score in emergency situations (like turn

and be able to throw a blitz from behind, allways usefull to get the blitzers in good blocking situations.
GOOD CHOICE!!

Primary Norse tactic is to roll a cage up one widezone. Use Frenzy to push players into the crowd if you can. If not, use the threat of Frenzy doing this to stop your opponent marking properly. All the time bashing away. Early on you can afford to throw any of your players into 1-on-1 match-ups, as the other team will have few chaps with Block*. Don't be afriad to throw 1-dice blocks - over the course of a game it will work in your favour. Stay flexible - AG 3 is useful for passing plays if you get bogged down. Have a catcher and run him down the opposite flank to your cage in case you need him. Good thing about Norse catchers is ST 3 and Block, so if he only marks up with one, you can beat up on that one. If he marks up with two then he is a man short where it counts.

Thanks chaps,
you've been most helpfull. So Cage is "da taktik" for Norse. Thats puts them into the strenght group of teams?

Well, that in itself is a point of contraversy. Many say that Norse can't hack it as an true strength team with all that AV 7, and as such are a weak team. I think they may have a point, but there is some hope if you play them flexibly, with a range of plays.

the main thing is: to follow up or not to follow up .. that's the question.
Following up leaves you a target for a block (if opponent is not down) not following up leaves yer cage standing ..

Argh, maybe the decisions will be much easier after a couple of beers.

Of course, if you are leading the cage with blitzers, you have to follow up...

so never do that.
make the cage with lino's and have the blitzers 'swarm' around that to keep off opponents and hit them into the dirt.

Yep thats it. Maybe get one or two blitzers with guard where they are needed.
And last not least, the norse are by far the best team to play on conceding
4 blitzer with piling on, mighty blow, one ogre with piling on, mighty blow and two or three lineman with dirty player are a huuuuge threat to any team. And if theres no one up standing in the other team then you dont have to bother about cages or long bombs...
So with norse its always the same for me. Kill fast or get killed.

IMO, VorTeX hit the donkey on the nose. Get Piling On on your blitzers ASAP and the pitch will almost clear itself. Jump Up and Piling On is too good, you can throw a +3/+1 (with MB) block *every* turn with *each* of your 4 blitzers, plus the Minotaur. That's a whole lot of pain at your disposal.

Yes you can throw a block if the oppo stay next to you. However, remember that by Piling On you lose your TZ - so if you have Piled On 5 times, you will not have much TZ coverage.
Of course your oppo will also have a lot of players on the floor. However Piling On is not a certainty in all cases. Also remember the Dirty Player who is very likely to hurt Norse bl;itzers at av 7.
That said, Piling On is currently too strong - here's hoping the BBRC change it back to before the av roll.

whether the norse are a good team or not depends HUGELY on the format of the league: in a tournament/league with up to say 8 or 10 games, all your ploayers having block is a massive advantage. After that, other teams tend to have got enough skills to count against you, and the basically not-very-good stats of the norse (6337) begin to be a pain, especially the low AV and MV. That said, i'm playing a team in the FUMBBL leaue at the moment, and although their record is someting like 6/5/17, they're good fun and i can't really complain: they now have a full roster, all their positional players, 70K in the bank, and a really top thrower (block, pass, accurate, sure hands, HMP) and a pretty cool mino (pro, block, tackle). If onl6y they could actually win some games...
