Amazon Agony but league joy

Post by Aussie »

G'day again,

erm... My friend is having serious problems with amazons he has read the amazons tactics in the latest BB magazine and he is still getting creamed. he played an orc team who just pound him and he tried dodgeing out and moving aroung but just could not break away so got mauled. what tactics can you use for an amazon team? also just one last thing the league is growing there are now 9 teams in it making it that little bit more unpredictable, so thaks to all the guys/gals who put there suggestions forward.

I think your best coach will win the league. Since you didn't post which team he got, I have no clue what to vote.

I had to learn how to play the dodging women. Their power is that they will go down less often than your opponents players.
If that's not the case, you're in serious problems.
Furthermore, if you play dwarves, you're !censored!. Playing orcs is possible though. 4 blitzers with Blodge. They should rule the place.

Didn't offer much tactics, but I've never been good in giving tactical advice.

There is no best coach, there is the most experienced coach which is me. but ihave played 10 won 7 drawn 1 lost 2 but when the games in hand are played i will probably be in joint second 1 point off the top spot. so its going to be a close season. High Elves were the early pace setters but wood elves are stoming through with orcs grinding their way to the top of the league.

If all coaches are equal and the teams are all rookie teams (TR100) then I would vote for amazons(so I did). They have a huge advantage to the other teams. They won't go down

Playing amazons is not so easy as it looks.

You have to use your dogde skill, if this doesn't work then you'll have serious problems.

Try to do a controlled offence over 4-5 turns. He has to move the ball carrier with a couple of players guarding him/her. It would be very usefull to develop one or two blitzers to get their first skill roll and then take guard.
After that you have to play your linewoman to get 3-4 blodgers.
Be sure to have enough TRR (4-5) so every linewoman can act as a thrower or catcher.

Try to play an agressive defence. With the dodge skill you'll mostly able to move the whole team every turn were you want them. So you can put pressure on the opponents ball carrier or the weakiest point of his offence.

Erm, IMO - the best or luckiest coach will win... If the number of games is more than 10...

Orcs, amazons and Norse have a big advantage to start with, but overall the teams are balanced.... Thats what we've found in our league anyway...

High elves always seem to be early pace setters though....

don't put my hopes down it's my first league with high elves i have suffered at the hands of Orcs and Lizardmen drew with the hummies and beaten the rest including the rematches with the above teams. Who would you guys rate as the best long term team? we are going to allow the internet teams from Mbbl listed teams on blood-bowl.net for season 2. i like the sound of the mongrel hoard pure fun in a barrel. has anyone actually trialed these? cos they could be worldbeaters on their day or a team of snotling on a seriously bad day.

The best long term team is probably the Orcs, but that's because they've got the 9 AV. Long term is around 30+ games, by the way. Skaven, Amazons, Humans, and Undead are all very good through about 15-20 games, and then player turnover begins to be a factor for them.

On long term I would favor Orcs (high AV) and Chaos. A good advanced Chaos team will grind you into dust and then score the winning touchdown.

The Amazons and Norse will have big trouble because they have only AV7 and tackle nullifies the amazons dodge skill. In a long term league will be a lot of tacklers especially if amazons are involved.
Humans have advantages from the start because they have a lot of skills on "cheap" players. Other teams with more special characteristic (high AV or ST for bashing, high AG for passing) will soon get better then them.
