technical question about forum website

Post by fritobandito »

I've got a problem. I can access this site fine from work, no problems, but as soon as I go home I get " Page cannot be displayed" or some such nonsense. I have no other websites that give me the same problem, and I've fiddled around with my internet settings to no avail. Unless this website becomes magically unavailable after 6pm EST, there's some other problem. Could it be an IP issue? I asked a techie with my ISP (Insight broadband) and they couldn't open the site either. I've modded a troll mini and I'm anxious for some feedback, but I'm stuck! Any ideas? Thanks!

Is this a recurring problem, or did it only happen last night? If you keep having the issue, it sounds like youve having DNS issues... check this thread in the "Comments" forum.

As I said in that thread, im not a big supporter of handing out the advice concerning the hosts file, but if you wish to try it and see if it works for you... maybe that will fix your problem.

It's a recurring problem, I even tried to pull it up this morning before coming to work, to no avail. That host file thingy, If I do that, would there be any problems later to just remove the line from the hosts file? I wouldn't PERMANANTLY be screwing something up would I?

Is there a possiblility that something is wonky with my ISP and for some reason I can't connect due to that is there?

Another voice to the chorus of people having DNS problems with the site. Glad to hear it's not just me.

Try this:

Open your hosts file (normally C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)

Add a line at the end like

81.168.2.123 www.talkbloodbowl.com

That ought to work.
