Introduce myself

Post by PatvonP »

Hi!
I just wanted to introduce myself. I recently started playing BB after a 15 year old break. Used to play with a couple of friends back in the days and a few weeks ago i stumbled upon a games workshop store. So I'm trying to learn all the rules again and introduce my new friends to BB, lol.

Anyway, I'm a 30 year old swedish married musician and web designer with a dog and a Volvo. Only the kids missing then I'll be what we call a typical "Svensson".

Oh I also play World of Warcraft and just started playing Warhammer Online.

Now I'll try to read as much as I can in this forum so I know what the heck I'm doing.

Best regards,
Patrik

Oh well no ones perfect!

Welcome to the TFF. Free straight jackets are in the lobby. Complimentary padded rooms with En Suite bucket. Please be reminded that some of the residents are rabid and should be approached with caution and not provoked...eh Digger! ....also the presence of a certain member running around in a thong and dancing to "Party Boy", should not be approached...at all!..

...apart from that welcome back to the Asylum!

Ok, so I'll add to this impromptu introduction posting.

I also used to play some 10-15 years ago. I'm also a Swede, I'm also named Patrik, also married without kids.
I used to play WoW and I used to play WH online.

Here endeth the similarities.

I am 45, live in New Hampshire ("Exiled" to the us in 2001) and work as an industrial maintenance technician.

Found this place becauce of my renewed interest in BB from the Cyanide computer game that I have played a few weeks now, sadly it seems my immidiate vicinity is lacking in real table top gaming as all the game stores I know of only runs card games and the odd WH40K nights. And my specific pointer to this place was listening to those wacky aussies and their podcast of BB goodness, I also listen to them tristate boys' podcast too.

Hi Patrik, and welcome back.

I hope you can get some tabletop BB. We have several coaches in our league who have returned to the game after 5-15 years, and they love the current rules.

Some years ago my son had a Norse team called the Svensson Slammers. Their roster went all the way from A. Svensson to P. Svensson. The last named P. Svensson (Catcher) died when going-for-it to the end zone for a a TD that would have taken him to his third skill advance. My son, quite young at the time, was rather upset, so one of my daughters made a cute little gravestone out of cardboard to place in the square where he died.

All the best.

:P I've had my shots, Pug! :P

Try out Necros, PatVonP, they're the best....

All kinds of goodies at my website: Arkham Asylum Teams

And don't buy anything from Greedy W'nk'rs, they've attacked their fan base most rabidly and don't deserve anyone's support... besides, there are MANY better companies to get fine models from!!! Take a look on the NecroMiniPhilia page of my site....

:orc: Glad to have you aboard! :orc:

Patrik - our league plays with figurines from different makers, although Games Workshop figurines are by far the most popular. For my part, I have found over the years that GW's Blood Bowl figurines are the best made and most attractive. No doubt you will find different opinions on this issue, especially on this forum.

A complete GW BB team (16 models) will cost you about USD80 to USD85 where I live (from the store). No doubt you can improve on that if you shop around online, for example on e-bay.

Some coaches find that GW's BB figurines are too expensive for them. If cost is an issue, I would recommend that you look at making conversions from GW's plastic Warhammer regiment boxed sets. For example, a Norse team made from their Chaos Marauder boxed set would be as attractive as any ready-made team.
