Seeding a league

Post by Leipziger »

Hi,
We're trying to work out a new competition format, but are having a bit of difficulty with the seedings. We have the following teams:

Humans Orcs Skaven
Norse Undead Underworld Creepers
Amazons Lizardmen Ogres

Obviously, the ogre and the underworld creepers are the weakest, but the others all seem pretty even. We've come up with
1.Humans
2.Orcs
3.Norse
4.Undead
5.Amazons
6.Lizardmen
7.Skaven
8.Underworld Creepers
9.Ogres

Let me know what you think,

Cheers

How many games is each team expected to play, and will it be open or scheduled?

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

We're trying to work out a ladder system so you can move up and down the league. So the minimum amount would be no.1 team playing the others 1x each. Otherwise, in theory, there is no maximum. It's not exactlty scheduled, but we play, on average, once a week.

Rather than looking at the teams look at the coaches and use that to seed your initial table. The best coach - almost regardless of team - is going to be the likely winner.

You may want to reverse the initial order too - so that its harder for your #1 seed to reach to the top.

There are only two coaches. The idea is that we both get to play with a number of teams. The aim is for the best player (in the end) to work his way to the bottom and will have to win with both the Creepers and the Ogres to win the league. At the same time the guy that is losing will be playing with a better team.

Ah - the Wodell League used to just have a pile of teams, pick 2 at random and play them as if you were the coach (including skill rolls etc).

Another way is to have x teams each. Each of your teams plays each of his teams then the 2 best teams play off in the final.

Oh, that sounds like a good idea. Maybe we'll give that a try instead.

Cheers
