Help with aetting up a league

Post by LittleFatPetey »

Can anyone help? I am setting up my first league with 14 teams in it and was wondering if anyone could help or anyone know of a program that can sort out the match pairings for me, (team 1 plays team 2, etc).

Cheers :P

Depends a lot on how you want to play and how many games you think you can have your different coaches play during the season. Do you want to take into account the TR, potentially races, how far apart do people live (would local divisions make sense ...)

With that many teams you may want to think about divisions (two of seven I guess). If you want to play a lot, of course you could have one league (13 games for each coach, 26 if you want to go for home and away).

Chess note pads (for keeping track of the matches) used to have tables that would give you the pairings based on the number of players that you had. I would check the internet for such tables, I am sure they are somewhere out there.

If you want to have only a certain number of games before playoffs (say each coach plays 6 games) then Tim's tool to keep track of teams and a league is really good, as it will give you also an indicator for good pairings (=not too vast difference in TR). That way you as the LC would post the new pairings for each week.

I am setting up a 10 team league with a 5 game regular season. I built my own matchup table in about an hour (math isn't my strong suit). No divisions... I am still debating whether the playoffs will be 4 teams or 8. What do you guys think?

Yer most of the players live local and they all want one big league, like the Premiership, with a couple of Cups going on the side, see English footie fans here and we dont want that American league thingie, personally I do but it the other players that dont. Thanks for that thing about the chess pairing I will look for that, well that more work for me and they want a web site as well and all in two weeks, the b@#~ards.

Ollie I think the playoff should have 8 games.

Hey,

I did a quick scan of the internet. The term I was looking for, would be Round Robin ....

Check the link, it should give you the tables you are looking for.

Good luck and lots of fun in your league.

Cheers
