Plastic Orcs

Post by mrschutte »

Okay, I have my basic boxed set plastic Orcs and I'm trying to put them together into some semblance of a team. Two questions:

1) Does anyone know of the Bitz #'s to get more plastic Orcs? I specifically need Black Orcs and Blitzers. The metals don't look quite the same and I really don't like having the variations on a theme.

2) I usually print the pictures of the bitz off the GW site so that I can pencil test certain color schemes before painting, but I can't find any images of the plastic orcs to do this with. Does anyone know where to find basic B&W images of the plastic figures so that I can use them to design my painting scheme?

Thanks guys.

AFAIK GW doesn't sell those sprues as bitz anymore. That's why you can't get the boxed set to break down into its components in the online store.

Your best bet is probably going to be eBay or a similar auction site. Many people auction off the human and orc sprues because they prefer the metal figs, and you can usually find at least one auction for some of them (in various states of painted-ness).

Good luck!

Thanks guys!

I've managed to get some of the plastic I'm looking for.

Does anyone have a line on the B&W images? I really do like to pencil sketch the color scheme before painting. Any help on this one?

Apart from your original intention in this topic, i quite like the idea of printing out pictures of minis and start messing around with color schemes. That's quite new to me and i think i'll give it a go...(my usual approach was to make up a rough plan on how the mini should look and then just paint and see if it works) Maybe your method could save me a lot of time

If you are used to work with a "paint software" like Photoshop its a quite good way to test colorschemas, too. I took a digital pict of my converted orc, converted it , removing the saturation, into a black&white pict and, using different layers, colored the main areas like shoulderpads, pants, helmet,...in different colorschemas.

I did this also with my orc head for my Teamlogo.

Photoshop should be no problem (in fact i just used it, to put all my necro minis together on one picture) I'm quite undecided, what to use (printouts and my few pots of color or the 16.7mio colors of paintshop) but maybe i just try both things to see, whats the best method for me.
