Hi,

I played only 4 games of BB, but i am good informed about it. So in my town we want to start a 4-6 Player League, but i dont know any enemy races.

I really don't know much about tactics or which race i should use....

I know that this Question is a very open one, but i can't see one race beeing better that others.... they are all the same good.

Which races have you started with, and have had sucess?? what tactics do u use with them?

And another Question: What should i do with human team to get away the ball from my orc enemy. should i block him, or put tackle zones around the ball carrier....

???
help :)

Most of the teams in BB are balanced enough that coaching ability and luck matter much more than which race you play. So really there isn't much to choose. Goblins & Halflings are deliberately bad - so only play them if you want a challenge.

Generally the best policy is to find a race that suits your natural style of play - don't play Dwarves if you like a fast passing game. Really the best idea is to try a few races and find one you like.

i don't think Ian can rememeber that far back :D

go with Humans or Orcs as they are a bit more forgiving for a new coach

i'd have to say that either orks or humans may well be the best way to go first of all. both teams are very average, being able to do all the basics quite well. choose one of them and see how you get on for a few games. if you don't like them, find out what it is you don't like about them and choose one of the teams that are better suited to that tactic (like if you prefer to throw the ball then take an elf team etc.)

And to answer your other question: Humans are perfectly capable of blocking orcs. I'm guessing the ball carrier is either a Thrower or a Blitzer, so run up a Blitzer of your own and throw a blitz at the carrier, maybe running a Lineman or Catcher to assist as well. Never let the orcs form a cage around the carrier. If they do, just stand one square in front of the cage so he can't block your players, only blitz one, and the cage can't move.

Hope that made any sense to you.

Well, I played Lizzies, Norse, 'flings, Lizzies and Lizzies again. The Lizzards did well on all three occasions, the Norse just plain sucked (I never got out of a game with less then two Casaulties against me) and teh 'flings did... ok.

I started with wood elves (got my ass kicked), then took high elves (got my ass kicked) and finally dark elves (by then I knew how the elf teams played and kicked ass). Now I'm dabbling with Khemri a bit.
Anyway, if you play against experienced players expect to loose badly at first, regardless of which team you choose. So don't be discouraged!
If I were you I'd play some practice matches proxying different teams to see what you like before you spend your hard-earned cash.

Orcs and humans are indeeed the most generic teams. Skaven are a very good team for beginners. So are wood elves and dwarves, but they're both at extrem ends of the passing/blocking game and are severely challenged in the other hand, elves are good at scoring, dwarves are good at defending.

First I started with Orcs.
I think they are a good starting team because they are allrounders. And they have a heavy armour too.So the players will survive longer than others.
But after a few games I changed to Woodelves because I liked the fast game more.
It really depends on the style you want to play but for the beginning I would play either humans or orcs.

:o Regardless of game I almost always play Orcs first, and they are a good team to start with.

However I'd generally recommend humans as they are more versatile - giving you a better understanding of the whole game and so you should be able to hone in on your perfect race sooner.

The first team I played in a season was a Chaos Dwarf team. I chose them because I think dwarves are cool and nobody else was playing them. I like to play unique teams.

That season there were about 3 Human teams, a Lizardman team, an Undead team, 2 Dwarf teams, a Skaven team, and a Necromantic team.

Near the end of the seaon I had the highest combined strength and 9 players on the pitch with 9 armor. I didn't win the seaon, I actually tied more games than anything else hehe, but I felt I did well. The Wardogs made it to the finals :)

For next season I'm going to be playing the Khemri. No one else is playing them and I like having 4 Mummies. The mummies have been deadly in preseason and I like having the throw away skeletons since I tend to foiul a lot.

I was thinking about playing a High Elf team as well. They're very different from the chaos dwarves - it's nice to actually be able to dodge. But I've gotten stomped hard playing them in every preseason game so far. They're pretty fragile.

That's my experiece (yes, only one full seaons :)). Have fun

Orcs and Humans are a safe bet, but the Lizards are pretty fun too. Have a great time!

It is as Ian said, play a few games with 3 or 4 of the races that interest you and go from there.

Other deciding factors are models and fluff. Is there one team that you really like the models and want to paint them.

For me, I enjoy the fluff of Chaos, and I play them in pretty well every other GW game that I "used" to play. The only other GW game that I play anymore is Epic Amrageddon, and i play Chaos and Eldar!

I would avoid Goblins and halflings to start though, as thier are deliberatly bad.
