Pro Elf Team:- What am I doing wrong?

OK, I have played a full league and many a one-off game with a Bashy team so I decided that for the next next league I fancied something a bit different. Que the Shadowforge elf team and a Pro elf roster.
The team itself I am pretty happy with:-
2 Blitzers, 220k
1 Thrower, 70k
1 Runner, 90k
7 Linelves, 420k
Apoth, 50k
2 RR, 100k
FF 5, 50k
I have played about 6 or 7 oneoff games with the team, my results have been 2-2-3 Which in itself I am fine with buit the problem is injuries.....
In literally every game I have ended up with 3-4 players in the dead/injured box and i average a Death every 1.5 games

.
My ball retention and protection of the ballcarrier is good but Its when I'm on defence that the problems start. i can't effectively blitz the ballcarrier/pick up the ball without leaving myself open to like 4 blocks. Is there something I am missing or is this just a hazard of the team?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

No youre not do anything wrong, elves are the worst armour seven team for taking casualties your slower than both Wood Elves & Skaven so you cant run away as well, unlike Norse and Amazons, hell even gobbo you dont have the luxury of block or dodge across the board, infact you only start with 2 block in a squad and no dodge. They great once developed but getting them through half a dozen games without taking major causualties is tough, in my experinace.
By the way whats a 90k runner, you should have up to 4 catchers at 100k a time, they give you nthat speed boost id start with 2 or 3 runners in a team, nerves of steel is a great skill.

Cheers Firebreather, I will have to perseveer (sp?)
Oops, you're right, I meant catcher and I meant 100k
The hazards of recalling the team from memory! Are there any changes you think I should consider as far as a starting team goes?

Theres not really to much you can change i`d go for a 2nd catcher and 1 blitzer but that all really. Unless your feeling brave enough to go without a apoth

Elves are for great players who like a challenge, they`re not like taking an overpowered team like necros or gobbo`s.

My elf hit similar problems...I agree with more catchers 3 minimum and 1 thrower...even going with only one blitzer to start with.
I took risk of no Apoth in the first gane and lost a guy but got 4 RR instead - better by half.
My only advise is to chose matches carefully in early stages as the bashy teams just screw these guys early on....I know it hurst!!

Another I dea would be to exploit Side Step:
When you place players with SS into crucial locations, the opponent might think about not Blocking them, because where they could be after it will be worse then where your players already are. Of course, you have to show him teh Danger of SS first. This might be the right time for some Psychological Warfare.

They are. Every time I play against Gobbos I lose.
This has nothing to do with the fact that I play halflings....
...or that I suck at coaching...

Well I beat an equal strength Norse team 5-1, and 6-3 on cas the other day.

That's with own one gobbo being thrown all game too
It helps when the chainsaw SI's one blitzer in the first turn, and the other SI's himself dodging

Ive played a bit with Pro Elves and your starting line looks good. I actually started with 2 blitzers and lots of Linos which worked really well. Wouldnt ever start with less than two blitzers. IMO they are the second best players in the game (after Wardancers).
Take heart - Elves get pretty Gnarly in the 8-16 games area (before it all starts going wrong again

).
As for defence. Get some one with Kick ASAP. Once your opponant has caged up it can be a nightmare so try and chase down the ball before he can group up. Nothing like turning over your opponant on turn 2 to score when he recieved. You really need a catcher for this but blitzers can be pretty good too.
Also I use the blitzers to 'stick' to the back of cages forcing them to hold still or string out but dont do it every turn coz eventually youll loose your blitzers.

Your roster is the problem.
You should :
- remove 1 blitzer
- remove 3 fan factor points
- then, add 2 linelves
90 % of teams with 11 players as starting roster have big difficulties after several games.

Assuming you're using LRB rules.
2 Blitzers
9 Linemen
3 RR
9 FF
Even though you're players are cheaper than other elves, you still need to be making money to replace them.
