If you are blocked and pushed back on the pitch edge do you go "out of bounds", what is the result of that and does a turnover then occur?

thanks,

When a player is pushed and there's no on-pitch square where he can legally be pushed to, he goes into the crowd. Make an injury roll for that player (no armour roll). This will not result in a casualty for the pushing player/team. If the player was part of the moving team, it would be a turnover and a good opportunity to laugh at the coach who managed to push his own player out

Which is not impossible but requires dodgy secondary pushbacks.

If the ball-carrier is pushed off the pitch does he drop the ball?

Yep, and (as _always_ when the ball goes out of bounds) you compute where the ball goes from the last square the ball was in before it left the pitch

So roll a d6 to scatter, 2d6 for the distance and start counting from the square the ball was last on the pitch.

I added bold statements to make it clear, as I see so many seasoned players get that wrong.

he doesn't drop it exactly - the crowd tear him to pieces and all thats left is a tiny bit of pigskin which they get a crowd pleasing moment of throwing it back on the pitch tring to hit another player!!

You can only hope that what's thrown back is pigskin.... it often depends on what you threw into the crowd....

(Though players with claws often miraculously survive a crowdsurf, FF though often goes down after that....)

Okay, so I'm one of those seasoned players that didn't know this. Where exactly does it say that your supposed to roll 2D6 for this. Since I know for a fact that if you read the LRB4 it says under the kick off area that the only time you roll a D6 for distance on a scatter is kickoff. And then when you read the area on throw ins it says nothing about rolling 2D6 for distance.

I've also noticed that Fumbbl rolls 2D6 for scatted on throwins but I honestly thought that was just their rule.

Page 4 of the LRB 4.0 has the goods. The throw-in section refers to that.

Its very commonly played wrong - I think partially because its right at the beginning of the rule book so no one ever reads it.

i think the wording also leads to the problems... "start counting from the square it last went out" can be read both correctly (the square it was last on pitch counts as "1") or incorrectly (counting *from* the square can indicate you start there and begin counting "1" at the next square, eg: the square 2 away from the sideline).

In the rulebook it's clear enough, but right now I can't be bothered to copy paste it :D

It's all about how you place the throw in template (explained with pictures) which makes it quite clear where you start counting.
