I know nothing....

Ok I am a Warhammer Fantasy player but obviously that has little impact on Blood Bowl.

Now about the only thing I know about the game is that I heard the Wood Elves are the fastest team in the league. So I purchased them and then I purchased the Norse Team (because my favorite NFL team is the Vikings).

I have been thinking about getting into Blood Bowl for awhile but haven't because I wanted to learn about the teams. However when my local gamestore decided to sell the team boxed sets for 50% off I have jumped in with both feet.

I also got my roomate to buy a Nurgle team and he doesn't even play Warhammer

Now I don't own the board or rules yet. But I hope to get together soon with someone who does.

Questions

1) How long does a "normal" game take to play?
2) How much more if anything do you need in addition to a team boxed set to say play in a league of maybe 8-12 players...
3) What is the current edition and what do you I need to buy in order to get everything I need to play since I already have 2 teams. (3 with my roomate).
4) Do you need anything other than the board to actually play the game if you have a team boxed set? (outside of rule book(s) )
5) Any general information or tatics for the 3 teams Wood Elf, Norse, and Nurgle that you would like to share?

1) 1.5-4 hours
2 )Nothing really if u like playing humans or Orcs, a team if u dont.
3) Current edition is lrb 4.0
4) The templates, especially the throwing one.
5) a) The ball is always yours if its on the ground, always try for it.
b) Norse always block whenever they can, its all they have.
c) Play it by ear.

Is this everything I would need to get started/get an idea of whats going on so I would have a head start trying to learn the game.

Well I actually don't have the starter set, I have a High Elf and a Norse Team boxed set. I was semi hoping to avoid buying the starting set and get the rule books/other things seperatly unless of course the cost makes more sense to get the starter even though I have 2 teams already....

You can download the latest rulebook (LRB 4.0) from the Specialist Games website - [url=http://www.specialist-games.com/bloodbowl/default.asp]here[/url.

Then you only need to get a pitch and the templates. In fact, you can easily do without the scatter and throw-in template - the passing one is the most important (someone did have a correct size jpg version of it, but I forget who).

Check ebay, as you can often get reasonabily priced box-sets, if not just pitches on their own.

Alright thanks, I will likly hold off on getting that pitch then. Can you get the pitch and templates seperatly without needing to buy the whole starter set with the orc and human teams?

Not from GW.

You'll have to scan eBay, or ask in the "For Sale" section if anyone has any up for offer. I believe Tritex (on this forum) might have some.

I just ordered the starter set from my local game store so hopefully I will have that this weekend. Am I correct in that Human and Orc teams are included in the boxed set?

Also I know the Human Team is supposed to be very balanced, how is the Orc team strength/weakness wise?

The orc team is also well balanced. The play is completely different but overall equal.

I assume the star/extra players are sold in blisters? Does the GW big catalog have the blood bowl stuff in it or where do you look to find the variety of the individual blisters.

They do have blisters from GW. You're probably better off going to the Bloodbowl for Sale section here and advertising what you want. You'll get a better deal.
