I am just getting into blood bowl again after many years so forgive my ignorance. Which version of the BB rules are you guys using these days, the rules in the handbook, the living rulebook or the unofficial pbbl rules? Are the rulebooks that different from one another? Which rulebook should I follow?

The rules in the printed handbook are straight 3rd edition.
The current "official" rules are the LRB 4.0, which are available from the Specialist Games website.
The PBBL rules should become the official LRB 5.0 rules in June or July, barring meteor strikes or GW going bust.
As for which rules are used, pretty much all of them. At a gues, I'd say LRB 4.0 are the more widely used atm, especially in tournaments, but it will vary from league to league.

And as for playability, even though I guess everybody would have their own personal favorite, Id go with Lrb 4. PBBL will be great, but havent been as heavily playtested as LRB 4, and there are still problems to adress and things to weed out. Thats a personal take on things.

And as a sidenote i dont think that the PBBL should be called the LRB5, but something diffrent entirely, to accentuate the fact that the rules have been changed on a fundamental level.

Why do I have the feeling not everybody will agree with you!

Many think like that, but it's not going to happen.
