Can't decide

Post by Lord Kie-Loq »

I'm new to Blood Bowl, and I can't decide between Humans and Lizardmen. Humans appear to be the more balanced but could someone please tell me the advantages of Lizardmen.

Advantages of Lizardmen-
Skinks have speed. Sauruses have surprising movement as well. Sauruses can go toe-to-toe with most anything.

Disadvantages of Lizardmen-
Skinks are fragile and are your only real ball carriers due to the lack of Saurus agility.

Very fun and can be very effective, but you need to protect the skinks.

Humans are one of the most balanced teams out there (being the baseline from which all other teams are made). Lizardmen are an extreme example of what the rules can do (with movement and player types). Humans might be easier with whom to learn the game, but go with whichever team appeals to you most as you need something to get motivate you to paint the team and get playing.

I've played both. If you're just starting, I would suggest humans. Lizardmen make a great second team though. Lots of fun!

Humans will give you a good understanding of how to play all teams as they can pretty much play any style. The only disadvantage with humans is they are not great at anything in particular from the start but you can soon mould them to your playing style. The main downside to Lizards is that the saurus aren't good for ball carrying (as mentioned previously) and it can take a while to skill them up. The problem with a saurus without skills is they can be a liability without block so they can burn your rerolls up quickly with some bad rolls. I would maybe consider orcs too but you are limited somewhat to more of a running game.

lizardmen are a very good team, but tough to master. i'd only recommend them for experienced coaches. if you're a newbie to the game, i'd definitely suggest you go for the 'oomies.

For a new gamer, definitely humans.
Saurus is a hard team to play with, because you only has two options and each is very good at what they are good and very bad at what they are bad.
The pros and cons have been discused so far, but then, there is one point that hasn't been touched at all: painting the team.
Probably (in my own experience) is far easier to paint a lizardman team than a human, and, if you already has the models, and want to paint them quickly for playing, maybe you should begin with the lizarmen.
Good luck.
