newbie in Cornwall (oo arr!)

Post by cornishmikey »

Well hello!

I'm Mike from Cornwall (betcha worked that out from my username tho  ) and i've got Chairface and Valen to thank for pointing me here...THANKS GUYS!!

I've been playing The Great Game for a fair few years (2nd edition i think), usually halflings just to infuriate the opposition :D

i'm on the Forum of Doom with the same username and a few painted figs on show in the galleries...which is why i'm here. I sell a fair bit of stuff on ebay, mainly painted blood bowl teams under the username mike666ferret (i wish i could explain the username  ) coz i've had a big car repair bill and, to be honest, need a bit of money.

The Osaka Dragons are currently on http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PROPAINTED-BLOOD- ... dZViewItem and a 'proper' human team will be up on sunday, followed by a Necromantic team, Halflings, Orcs and Khemri; if you've got a team or a player or two that you'd like painting, send me a message and we'll work something out (got a feeling this bit should go in the 'For Sale' section. Sorry!)

cheers!

Hi Mike
Those figures are really top notch painting wise! Have you painted them your self or did you acquire them. Ive been painting on and off for the last 20 years (off mainly!!!) and always trying to achieve perfection. I just got my blood bowl out of the loft now my kids are are old enough to enjoy and appreciate what a great game it is and ..........I was wondering if you knew of any where is the south west where they get together and play? Im a bit rusty on the rules and wouldnt mind some actually watching a game or competing with some one who knows the rules inside out just to pick up things again. I live in bodmin by the way.

best place to try would be to send valen a pm. gav's a nice enough bloke and would be up for a game i would have thought. he's in newquay.

i know the gw store down in truro did run a short league a couple of months ago. not too sure if they've got plans to do that again in the future. might be worth badgering them until they say yes though.

that's the starters anyway. when you've learnt the new rules (available as a free download from the specialist games site) and had a few games to get rid of the rust there's the newquaybowl in august to start you on the slippery slope of tournaments.

hope this helps you out a bit.

oh and hi to both of you to the boards :D

hey scottydog!
yep, i painted them myself...took me a long long time to get the sumo guy's skin looking right!

Like Evil Git says, Valens a top chap and Newquaybowl is something to look forward too! There should be a gaming club in Truro British Legion at the start of the next year, playing WFB, WH40k, The Great Game itself, Wild West, Warmaster ancients and a few other things. Call in GW Truro to badger the staff, tuesday nights your best bet - both Valen and me are usually there.

cheers!

@ Mike, don't you dare put that Khemri team up for sale before I see it, it is the only team I don't have

@ Scotty, as Mike said your best bet is too come down too Truro GW on a Tuesday night, but as soon as the gaming club is up and running we will have a BB league going. So come along

Thanks for the info. I live in bodmin and truro is a bit of drive but Im sure I could make it once a month and check it out. What time does the evening sessions start? and how long do they last? Do they play BB there or do they just stick to to the popular GW games?

Well I will be there pretty much every Tuesday (inc. tommorrow), and always have a board and a team with me just in case someone wants a game. It starts around 6, I usually get there around then, and they shut at 10, but we usually end up in the pub before then :D

Most people play the popular games but most also play BB but it is a little hit or miss on wether or not you will get a game if I am not there. We are just finishing our torni, the final should be tommorrow hopefully, but after that it will probably be after we set up the gaming club for a league.

If you want to arrange games away from GW drop me a PM, but I live in Newquay and dont drive. :(

And they haven't kicked you out? Sure they're real GW employees? Jeez! The local store here blanked you if you didn't play 40k, WFB or LotR.

I have come accross GW's like that but as I said the employees here are really cool.

In fact one of them told me not to buy the undercoat from them and walk 100 yards down the road and try their red prima for my chaos space marines, works a treat, so as you can see, helpful and very cool
