I am thinking of staying away from Dark Elf. I would be happy with any and all help with Elf, High Elf, or Wood Elf.....what config and the best way to play them. Thanks

Hey Nugget,

You probably want to check out the strategy section of the board, which has some starting teams and suggested tactics for most of the teams involved.

By using the 'Search' on the Tactics section, you should be able to uncover a ton of information on the various elf teams.

In short..

High Elf: Passing
Wood Elf: Running
Pro Elf: Dying

You want the Wood Elves. They can have a treeman to help protect their necks on the line of scrimmage, and they have tons of speed with the rest of the team. All are AG4 and MA7 or more. Nobody can compete with that.

As long as you can stay on the field, you should do well.

Play High Elves. Wood Elves are cheating. For all the reasons wesley mentioned 8)

What elves to play... hmmmmmm, you could check through the GW catalogs for elf casualties for realistic models of whichever elf team you play... or just pick a respectable non-elf team to use....

Wood Elves: Score, strip ball, score...repeat as needed
ALWAYS Dodge out of tackle zones at the end of turns
Score with lineelves as well as skill players

High Elves: Slower, but less breakable...Play more American football tactics
Punch a hole in defense...flood defensive secondary with catchers
Hang back with thrower...toss TD pass in turn two

On D, you can mix it up a LITTLE BIT...armor 8 they're basically agile humans...leave some in tackle zones to protect ball carriers...STRIP BALL STRIP BALL STRIP BALL!

Pro Elves: Ehhh...don't like them...armor of woodies and speed of highs...skills are okay, but D is a bit of a Biiiiitch.

Dark Elves: Not much experience with them, but seem pretty cool...basically high elves that can scrap more and kill.

My 2 cents...

Any information on your intended play style and the make up of your league would be helpful. I know that Dark Elves are supposedly an advanced team. But if your league is full of rookies too then them could be an option

Pro Elves are fantastic.

High Elves are dull

Wood Elves are just asking for a beating (well. the wardancer is deffo on a hiding to nothing with the massive target around his neck)

so more info from you will garner more from us. Wesley is the master for info on Elves.

I went Dark Elves as a rookie in a rookie league and wiped the floor with them and their sub-standard AG.

After this comment from Gorbad on the teams strengths;
High Elf: Passing
Wood Elf: Running
Pro Elf: Dying
The Dwarf vote is to play Pro Elf.

Or just play the team with the most style.
Who cares if you win or lose, when you're looking good. 8)

Pro Elves get Nerves of Steel for free on every catcher. thats *really* good.
High Elves are so dull you might scrape the odd win, after the opponent has fallen alseep.
Woodies get Wardancers :puke:
Dark Elves require a skilled hand, don't look at me for that though

I really don't think Dark Elves are as hard as everyone makes them out to be. Mine have won 7 in a row, and their current record is 11-2-1. Granted, I'm not a rookie coach, but then neither are my opponents. :)

This is a question I've asked myself too.
The High elf seems hard to play just because they really don't have any edge. I've only played them back in 3ed and I didn't win that much.

WE are as good as ever but you just have to accept that they will die a lot.

Haven't played DE or PE so can't say much about them. Though I love the stats of the DE Blitzers and I'm thinking of playing them next.

Helves seem super slow from the outset, but after a few skills, they tear it up. Think of them basically as agile humans, as many of their stats are the same save AG...they can pound it out a little bit, and they can slip through a hole. The best part of this team is the ST 3 catchers...they're your bread and butter, and you can field 4! of them. Get them some dodge, some strip ball, some block, some sidestep, and with their MA 8 they'll wreak havok all over the pitch, and score lots of TDs. My Goldolin Scions started their career 1-3-3, but since have reeled off 8 straight wins due to proper skilling up...and with most of them AV 8, the don't die nearly as much as Welves. Patience, young grasshopper...the wins will come. :)

I started up with a HE team 'Bling-Bling Crusaders' and beat my friends new DE team with 5-0. Though he was still playing a 3rd ed style that just didn't work at all for the 5.0 DE. And also he failed at least 8 very important dice throws.

So after this first match I've to say that HE is competitive in 5.0. At least against other runnning teams.

Everyone always forgets to mention the Dead Elf team -- Elves can be Undead too 8) They can even have dead poets for cheerleaders.
