Hi, old-skool blood bowler here, 2nd ed all the way. Or I used to be, at least. I used to play Blood Bowl all the time, but I lost all my miniatures when moving a few years ago. Not just Blood Bowl, but everything. I managed to keep the polystyrene board, though. Now I'm looking to get back into it and rebuild all my old teams.

Nice to hear that your getting back into Blood Bowl. Unfortunate as it is, however, the board you have is no longer official, they have increased the size of the squares. If you and you opponent don't care though, than it's all good.

Nice to have you around and I hope the new edition of the rules gives you as much enjoyment as 2nd edition did.

To be honest, one of the reasons it's taken me so long to get back into BB are the changes made from 2nd to 3rd. It moved far too close to the po-faced Warhammer fantasy setting, and all the miniatures just looked a bit bland. Throw in some more flat, uninteresting John England pictures into the 3rd ed rulebook, and I'd pretty much reached my disenchantment point limit. I'm aware that my polystyrene board is now out of date, but goddamn, it still looks better than grass. BB belongs on astrogranite. Are we playing for broken bones or muddy shins here?

Sorry for the rant, and thanks for the welcome!

Hi Ekwatts, welcome back to the fun of BB! I started with 2nd Ed too and only recently got back into BB, althought I don't have the polystyrene board but I did manage to keep my old 2nd Ed miniatures! While I dislike some of the miniatures that came out with 3rd Ed too the new rules (you can get the new rulebook free from the specialist games website in case you didn't know) do run really well, I prefer them to the basic 2nd Ed rules and I just keep using the old miniatures :D

You'll be pleased to hear that it's now moving away from WFB.

Yeah, I've really liked the changes being made just recently. The new humans look fantastic. They actually look like they're playing a (bloody and violent) sport, rather than Empire footsoldiers that lost their weapons and accidentally wandered into a football pitch. I've not seen any close-up pictures of the pro-Elves team so far, though. They look a bit plain. Not enough studded trousers, and the mohawks are a bit small...

I like the pro elf miniatures. A throw back to the 2nd Ed elves in style and so much better then the high elves! Their feet and heads seem better sized then the 3rd Ed miniatures too. The blitzers could do with a different stance to make them stand out from linemen more and I really dislike the catchers stance... if they are jumping up that high to get the ball then it was a losey throw!
