Pushing:out of bounds:sidelines (LRB 5)

Post by 20694377 »

Need some clarification on pushing a guy out of bounds when their is a prone player next to him.

Example 1:

plyr 1 pushes plyr 2: Plyer 1 is diagnal from plyr 2: Thier is plyr 3 who is prone behind plyr 2: Is player 3's square considered " empty" and is he pushed as well or is player 2 pushed off the pitch?

:-?

The left of the page will account for the side line.

Example 2:

Insert the ball where plyer 3 is: Is he pushed into the ball and the ball scatters? Is he eligible to catch the ball? If he is pushed back and knocked over does he scatter the ball or can the coach for plyr 1 choose to knock him out of bounds?

Need some clarification please thx![/list]

Whitespace death can make things complicated, I assume the graph you were trying to make was like.

-1
2
3

If 3 is a player: 1 would push 2 out of bounds, as squares with prone or stunned players are not considered empty. Only the ball has that exception.

If 3 is the ball: the ball is considered an empty square, 2 is pushed onto the ball, which bounces. 2 cannot be knocked out of bounds in this case.

Great. thanks for the clarification.

Another question:

If your player blocks another player ( not near the side line ) and knocks him down or pushes him and their are prone players behind the pushed or knocked over player in all three spaces can the prone player be pushed?

I double checked the rules and I see nowhere that differentiates between standing, prone and stunned as far as pushbacks are concerned. Per the rules it all works exactly the same. A player in a square occupies that square, regardless if they are up or not.

i take it you mean the 3 eligable squares the player caan be to be pushed into are occupied the yes. you decide which square you are going to push and the push the prone player occupying that square normally.

eg

Code: Select all

xyz
 b
 ac
player a pushes player b but the 3 spaces he can be pushed to are occupied by players x y and z (doesn't matter if they're prone stunned standing etc

Code: Select all

x
 byz
  a
   c
Player b HAS to be pushed back so the coach controlling player a decides to push player b into the space occupied by player x who is in turn pushed back in the normal way

This is pretty important to learn its considered a chain push and clever chain pushers can one turn score this way.

I did not know you could push prone players. I see in the rules that it is not ruled out. Just didn't realize you could.

I think only in chain pushes and as a result of a Fanatic's Ball & Chain movement, iirc.... There is no way to Block a prone player....
