Ello' Guys! Old Player, New Member!

First off, I'm glad i found this site. Its looks like its pretty active and a decent place to chat, unlike alot of the other forums i've seen.

Quick introduction - I'm Matt, a new member on here, so hey to everyone. 19 years old and a fan of Bloodbowl! I used to play a few years back with a local club where i live, until college and social life got in the way, possesive girfriendl, i drifted apart, the club ended, and so on. Good and bad times in both ways.

But I'm going to manchester uni in september, cant wait! But while going through my room I found my old figs! Skaven, Chaos, Chaos Dwarves, all wrapped up neat. I thought about how much fun I did have in the club, and just what a mental game BB really is. So after - some - searching online, i found this site, a forum for BB players. Looks great :D

So theres me, and my only Q's are:
Whats the current ruleset for BB? I havnt played for a few years!
How active is this site? it looks pretty active, but is it a few hardcore members or a larger community? (I understand thats a bit of a vague question though lol)
Is there any players or clubs in Manchester that i could get aquainted with?
and anything a new player or member should know, about this site or the game?

Sorry for the long post guys, and thanks for any replies. Looking forward to getting into this again, all the way!
Matt.

Welcome to the Party, Pal!

Lotsa activity here... start with any topic of interest and you should find many threads of diverse thoughts....

Many resources, and I invite you to download what you need at my website: Arkham Asylum Blood Bowl

Do a search on anything you want to know... keeps the mods from fussing about your weak search-fu....

I'm not the expert on all things, but feel free to pm me with any questions....

Lots of Manchester members on here, just wait they will be here soon.

I like the way neither of you answered his questions!

1. LRB 5 is the current official one. A lot of leagues and tournaments are currently playing LRB 5 plus experimental rules, which is due to become LRB 6 towards the end of this year.

ah, my browser just started messing up. Can't find the other Qs. Sorry to hear you are leaving the south west (where I am!) for Manchester (where there are lots of good players already, dammit!).

Cheers,
Mike

There are about 20 of us in a pretty active Manchester league.
Our forum:
http://waterbowl.freeforums.org/index.php

Just register on there and arrange a few games in the veterans league.

As mumbojumboist said, there are quite a few of us in Manchester who play pretty regularly. Just jump on to the waterbowl site above and give us a shout.

Check his location. ;)
I'm guessing more you're more South-West than him though.

Ah, I'm over Exeter way in the Southwest, shame really :(

I've just signed up on The Waterbowl forums, waiting for it to be approved ;) and Jimjimjimany, when you say abuse, is that friendly abuse or proper abuse lol? I'm aiming to make a good impression at uni ;)

Defo glad to see that this is an active site with a great community, been over to Tritex (think thats right) games from a link, and Digger's site is great for the info. cheers guys, been really useful in helping me get back into it!

Geoff steals his shoes

Good to know we'll soon be having another Manchester BBer. It's a good league, and well worth the travelling I do to take part. If you want to try some other games as well, however, I can highly recommend Vague as a student gaming group. A friend of mine played there a lot last year (instead of studying).

This site itself is fantastic. A large community, though you'll notice some people around a lot more than others.

Vague looks really good. I checked them out, thats something I'll defo be looking at joining ASAP.

Waterbowl does look pretty good, it'll be really good to be in a league to, i've only been in a very small one (6 teams, about 12 games played) and it was pretty much a shambles. looking forward to joining you guys, already setting up buying my new team!
