Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
Hey, Just signed up finally afte rlurking (Seems to be the norm on forums these days) to say hi and hopefully to find more players in and around Belfast N.I.
Got bitten by the Bb bug again and already have starter orcs and humans painted up with extras still to do to give both teams all options, got my main human team (The new metal ones, god their big compared to older plastics) and a halfling team / goblin team in the works.
then began the building a pitch and also now I want to do a pitch in a case for ease of travel... all alongside 40k, battletech, WHFB and more... so many fun games so little time.
Welcome aboard. Best bet I recon would be the QUB Dragonslayers, at the very least they'd know if any BB is being played around those parts I'd wager, or other local clubs to try, and some must have played in the past. Never went along myself (Uni in Edinburgh and was rarely back home) but they seem to be a fairly large gaming group. I seem to recall a few of my mates (played in our league in Omagh previously) managed some games when they went to Uni but not sure if that was just against each other or if they found a group, was years ago.
I've poste don Queens Dragonslayers forums and already attend TTN (Tabletop north) so wa shoping to broaden my searches for players. Queens didn't seem to have any really from feedback and TTn has a few so was hoping to bunch them together and find more for a Belfast and surrounding areas league.
I am pretty abandoned here so much of my BB comes from email BB!
You should really check out ElfBall, by Impact! Miniatures and their main guy, GalakStarscraper is a big figure in the BB community who was part of the BB Rules Committee.
Its a game that is starting to take off and the rules are solid!
Shame there aren't more about, I'm sure a lot of folk have played it in the past but perhaps just aren't currently? I've seen first hand how a league can grow (when run well and constantly) as folks come out of the woodwork once it's going though. Here in Edinburgh this past year it has really caught on, (admittedly there had been leagues here before) I think we have 15 or 16 coaches on the go. Maybe just getting started with enough is indeed the big step? Isn't the same Tourney scene in NI to add interest/keep things ticking over perhaps.
@brownrob There used to be/may still be a small club in Omagh if that's not too far afield (formerly played in Derry with more folks until that ended) that met at the Library HQ each month. They played a mix of stuff, mainly 40k and historical but a lot of them are big into their board games as well, one guy played a lot of specialist games (Loved Necromunda) and would probably have taken BB up, definitely would have were I still there. (Not sure if he still plays now, dropped off the radar with his new GF and wee'un) and I know a couple more still living there or thereabouts (Newtonstewart) who were formally part of a small BB league I was in way back in the late 90s and came to the club a few times. (I know those two play each other a bit, and myself the odd holiday, and are looking to get back to BB, they would have bought the 360 version had it been decent).
Slim pickings but drop me a PM if you want some contact details for them, I think the club even made a site/yahoo group if I can find the old bookmark. Were I still living back home I'd definitely have a small league of 3 or 4 players going with them meeting each month. We managed it pretty well with Mordheim one summer a few years back when I was home.
