Old-timer coming back
Hi guys
So I haven't played BB in many, many years (my gaming golden age was very much the late 80s, early 90s!) but after having discovered a few of my social group also used to play we're trying to get back into it. I have to say that while GW's current involvement has hardly left me very impressed I'm liking how much independent support seems to be kicking about. Anyhoo, looking forward to getting back into it.
Cheers
Papa C

Welcome to the forums.
Hang around for a while, and you'll see an awful lot of that 'independent support'.

Ooh, ta for that. I'd stumbled across Roll Jordan recently, but these definitely seem worth a thorough examination as well. Now if only I could remember how to paint!

Ha ha, will do. It looks like one of the guys I'm now playing with has a hell of a touch with a brush, so I may mine him for tips, I'll happily pass on anything he gives
Welcome to yourself, hope you have as much fun as I do getting back into it

Cheers! Think I may be in for a bit for a rough ride at first as I've chosen Slann as my first team!

Re: Old-timer coming back
Brave man! I remember the Slann being tricksy in 2nd edition and they look even more "specialist" now. Good luck with that. I'm being quite boring in comparison and picking up where I left off with the Elfheim Eagles and an orc team. The orcs look to be more of a learning curve though, as they used to just play as green humans...

In this age of globalization, why don't you just outsource your painting operations with him? Why have him teach you how to fish when you buy the fish from a professional fisherman. Preferably after he finished his beers?Papa C wrote:Ha ha, will do. It looks like one of the guys I'm now playing with has a hell of a touch with a brush, so I may mine him for tips.

There's a simple formula to answer that: pregnant wife x money = £0left in bank account! More seriously, I much rather painting things myself even if they don't quite come out professionally, that way I feel much more attached to the little guys

No kidding! It's no coincidence the teams I'm playing at the minute are the ones I bought 20 odd years ago...I usually get very attached to things that came for freeBecause you usually pay for them later.
