Has my league been doing defensive assists wrong?
We've been playing that, defensive assists are always those are adjacent to the player BEING ATTACKED.
So if a defensive player is standing behind the defending player being attacked, he could provide defensive assist...
But after re-reading the rules, it looks like that may be incorrect as it mentions adjacent to enemy player. Do defensive assists need to be adjacent to the ATTACKER?
Thanks, I tried searching

You have been doing it wrong I'm afraid. Players grant defensive assists if they are adjacent to the player making the block.
On the plus side, you noticed the mistake.

Don't worry, plenty of others have made the same mistake. It was hard to get my league to see it this way, so they made me walk the plank for it.

We used to play incomplete passes wrong only scattering once and then bouncing. Not sure why/how we figured that as the right way to do it, but I didn't learn otherwise until I actually read the rules for myself rather than listening to my brother explain it to me.

I hate assisted blocks. Those things can be really tricky to work out sometimes because of players standing in TZs and what not. That's why I really like guard, helps eliminate that problem. And for some reason my 12-year old kid's great at working out who gets to assist a block and who doesn't. I always end up losing those arguments since he's just got an eye for those situations.

I love those posts... wrong? Well you answered it yourself
As for the assists, it's just algebra dude.
In TZ no assist
Not in TZ assist
Now is the player standing next to the defender or attacker (do not count there TZs for the purpose of assisting).
Guard is nice. I want my WE to have at least one, I've played 20 games and have had only 3 doubles! (none of whom I was going to give guard to anyway!).
