Thanks, but that's not what I meant with "little pictures"; its the personal pictures that most of the folks around here have added to their personal profile, displaying them on all of their posts along with their name / status. How to add one of my own?
And furthermore: how to add personal pictures to a new topic / post? Like piccies of my team etc...

If you mean an Avatar, you add it in your profile. Press the "profile" link at the top of the page.

As for pictures in your post, they need to be on the web somewhere and you add the link, I think, though I could be 100% wrong on that as I've never done it.

Hi darkson; I've seen posts sporting actual uploaded pictures instead of links to click on. Even if you don't know how to post them, perhaps you know someone who does? Who's in charge here, anyway?

get your pic on a webserver, then add an Image

Tim, who leaves out no chance to promote his Ogre conversions :)

No one's in charge! The lunatics are running the asylum!

Ok, sorry. Over that now.

When you're typing your post/reply, look up and to the right of your body text. There are 9 buttons right below the Subject box. the 8th one says Img. When you click on that, it will write {img} (with square brackets instead of curly braces) and there's now a * on the Img button. Type in the website address of your image and then click on the Img button again. It will write in {/img} for you at the end. Done.

Did you see the catch yet? You need to load your picture onto a webserver first. You can't just load images onto the bulletin board, as it'd eat up all the space on Galak's (the guy who really does run the place) hard drive and we don't want that.[/img]

Thanks for the info, may I pester you again? I've never uploaded anything to a server; how's it done? Do I have to pay for it? Which server to chose? What format should the pictures have?

Doesn't cost anything. All it is is an outside link to an image. Just push the "Img" button above your post (while you are typing it, and insert the URL of the pic inbetween the [img}URL HERE[/img] that appears. To determine the URL of a pic you see on the net, just right click the image, and select "Properties". There will be a line or 2 called "Address" with an http://www.something.com/pic.jpg address there. Just highlight that address and Copy/Paste it into your post. Like this picture of god himself:

Image

To see how I entered this in, just click the "QUOTE" button on the top right of my post. It will then display the actual text that I typed, and show you the text used to display the picture.

For uploading your own pictures, it really doesn't matter what format that you put them in. If you have a pic or 2 that you want posted, but is not that large, email it to me at cfederspiel@comcast.net and I'll put it online.

If you have high speed internet, typically your service provider gives you a small amout of web space for free. Otherwise, you need to search online for web space.
