Hey Guys,
with my Drakenburg yahoo! site still under construction, I have to use this form of discussion base for YOUR opinion on Starplayers at the IV. Dungeon Bowl... Should Starplayers be allowed, or not?
What would you prefer to?
Cheers

I won't be there, but the chainsaw stars would be too cheap and therefore dangerous to allow.
probably go for no stars (If I had a vote)

I will be there, and i would like to see no Stars. (Gobbos have there secret weapons allready, so they are not needed in my oppinion).

I also don't like stars. They are OK in a league for the underdog, but as a planned part of a team setup I don't like them.
Although with Loner they are not as mean as before.

If you make it clear that there must be 11 regular on roster players in addition to the star players then I think that stars should be perfectly ok. Apart from the secret weapon stars most are so expensive that I doubt many coaches would take any (at least not if they want to win much).
But some teams (particularly Ogres and Halflings) really benefit from star player access to make them decent in a tournament environment. So personally I'd be in favour of allowing them in.

I prefer Stars.
With the new prices of them calculated the way they are they can been used.
Chainsaw players are not so cheap. Exception is maybe the Orc-chainsaw wielder. But just block him and he fell on his own toy. Worked at least in my league games.
Most stars are over the 200.000 gps and any team who got them will have some finance problems.
Exception here may be the 160.000 Skaven Gutter Runner with loner and Stab, prehensile Tail, and Shadowing. Sounds fun. I want to see a Skaven team with 5 Gutter Runners, or buy Hakflem too and you got 6!
So I say yes to Stars, and not only because I will play Dwarfs and wanna field some explosive stuff.

I like that. You need 11 regular players and can add stars on top. That sounds fair.

Nooooo!!!! That will ruin my play to field in the first drive the Death Roller, Chainsaw, Bomber combo to complete annihilate your team... and then field 8 Dwarfs for the last 15 Turns.

Yep - hopefully they'll add that rule for the BB as well.

It just seems like a reasonable interpretation of the rule book as it currently stands to me. Your starting team must have 11 players and as the stars are inducements they obviously can't count towards that total. Still, I guess you can't count on everyone coming to the same conclusion...

Agreed, but the 3rd ed/LRB rules said that Satrs were Freebooted, and you needed 11 rostered players - didn't stop people having rosters with 1 Star and 10 rostered players.
Hopefully, GW (or more correctly, the Events team) will put in it B&W to stop any wrong ones this year.

I'm not so sure that is right for LRB 4 and was certainly not the case for pure 3rd Ed when you could hire up to 4 of them permanently.
Star players may only be hired for a single match when playing
league games. The hiring fee of the Star Player is listed as their
second price under the Star Player's cost. This means that the
only time you will pay the full cost (or first price listed) for a Star
Player is when they are being used as a member of a team in a
non-league game.
Looking at what it says it does appear that it was only for league games that stars were freebooters only and that in one off games they could be a 'permanent' member of the team and thus count towards the starting 11 minimum.

But either way I totally agree with this sentiment. IMO it does need to be spelt out clearly or there will be someone who doesn't realise.
