Waterbowl Saturday Night Plans - Are you in for Indian?

Post by Leipziger »

Table is booked for 50 people at the Islamabad Grill who were the only people able to take such a big number.

Have been in to pay the deposit and asked about a set menu, but given that the owner said the set menu would, essentially, consist of a reduced number dishes from the buffet, but at an extra £3-4 a head, I decided to go for the buffet option as it is £9 a head (all you can eat) and there is a greater choice of dishes.

Table is booked for 7.30.

Oh, the restaurant does not serve alcohol (boo!), but we can take our own (yay!) and there are a couple of off licences and a McColls on the way down to the restaurant (also means that doing the bill is going to be pretty straightforward).

If you want to come and have not expressed an interest - let me know asap as there are only a few places left!

Going in next week to pick set menu etc.
If you are interested, please post here :)

I'm coming with Mike Blackledge, and he's quite a fussy eater, and can't stand curry (which is a shame, because I love it if it's not TOO spicy). As such, us two will be finding somewhere else to eat this time, I'm thinking eithe rfast food, or an italian place (anyone else who doesn't like curry is more than welcome to join us).

Though we will most definitely be trying to meet up with a few of you after we've eaten. It's not a BB tourney without alcohol in the evening!

I recall the main problem with the curry house last year was the service. Didn't the food take hours to arrive.

I'd vote for Indian or Italian. Either suits me.

You'll know what is available locally better than I do but I would suggest a buffet.

Quicker service (main problem with tournie meals that I have been at), makes bills easier (esp: if there are non-drinkers) and often have variety which may be sufficient to keep everyone on board.

But I don't know if there is one will hold the numbers close enough to where we want to be.

A buffet is a nice idea. I remember the Flame Bowl went to a nice Chinese place, so theres definitely somewhere in Manchester that will hold us.

Just to be awkward, I'm not generally a big fan of buffets and would vote for standard sit down type. I can see how a buffet might be easier for a big group but we just did the buffet thang at Flamebowl the other week...

What if I were able to arrange a sit-down meal, but for a fixed rate?

This would simplify the bill at a cost of variety.

Wouldn't help to improve the odds of quick service.

Alex, you should try spicy hut, there my local curry house (the most northern one of the curry mile) and it's fantastic. Quite cheap and really good service. I've gone en masse a few times and they've always done well, even throwing in a bit of discount, although I think that might have been student discount.

Whatever is decided, i'm in!

Chinese, Italian, Indian, English. There'll always be something edible on the menu I'll enjoy. Count me in.

I'd be up for a mass Curry sit down like we did at Poo Bowl

Not so fond of the buffet idea though.
