BUBBLE3 One-dayer, Umeå, Sweden, 6 March 2010

First of all, I vaguely remember that there is another league/tournament called BUBBLE elsewhere, it just so happens that our league is also called BUBBLE (Best Umeå Blood Bowl League Ever) and is currently running its third season.

New for this season is that we are playing a mini-tournament as part of the main season, consisting of four games played over the course of one day on the 6th of March. I wanted to plug this tourney here as we are hoping to start gathering interest for our league. If this tourney proves successful we also hope it can become a recurring event and it's my personal wish that, with enough interest gathered, we can pull off a proper NAF-sanctioned event in Umeå one day.

This one will not be NAF-sanctioned, since the tourney is part of our perpetual league. Newcomers for this event will start their teams at 1,115,000 gcs worth, get five random MVPs and +2 bonus FF before game one. The league teams of BUBBLE were restarted this season and will have played a maximum of five games prior to the tourney, so newcomers will be at a slight disadvantage.

Still, anyone in the area who fancies an intense day of Blood Bowl is more than welcome to the far north for the weekend. I would love to hear your comments and will take any questions here in this thread or over at "Stridshammaren" (see below).

Ge mig lite mer tid att förberedda mig nästa gång så kommer jag upp till er. Kul att ni ha liga i Umeå iaf. Mer än vi ha just nu i Uppsala. :(

Trevligt!

So, almost one week after the half-way tourney (so called as it was right in the middle of the league season) and there is already talk of having another one! We ended up only ten players, of which as many as three started with fresh TV115 teams. There is a pretty strong WH/WH40K tradition in Umeå, so all other games sort of have to adapt to the wargaming seasons. This means that BUBBLE4 will probably start up after the spring main wargaming event at the end of April and the next half-way tourney would then be penned down for the start of the summer most likely. The next season will drag on into summer holiday season, but after that is finished I am toying with the thought of a "proper" tourney towards the end of summer (Aug/Sep). Will depend a lot on the turn-out on the next event probably.

GothCon is in the spring as far as I'm aware and SpettCake is in the summer, right? Just thinking of what other events a late summer tourney could clash with.

SirShadowCat, I'm afraid I didn't see a single camera at the event. You will have to take my word for it that it was a rather cosy and informal affair, with ten coaches as I said earlier. We had free hot drinks and sandwiches for everyone and went for lunch individually around 2pm, reconciled at 3pm and were finished at 8pm. A small group then met up for drinks later in the evening. We were actually on schedule throughout the whole day and had no delays (with the exception of one coach turning up 15 minutes late in the morning, having lost his house keys, wallet and ID the night before).
