Can't comment on the sculptor, but the Virtual Alchemist seems to be a defaunct miniatures company from the early 2000's.
Name of the seller is the same as the name the company owner used on TMP as well:

But if the text is correct, and it was sculpted for VA then it's not an official GW fig.

VA used to have a big presence in the oop resale market for figures; they used to have an excellent selection and were closely linked to Stuff of Legends. I recall as ebay took off the sales kind of became obsolete. In all honesty, I don't know whether they commissioned any figs, but its possible.

oldmangarth is the original owner of the Virtual Alchemist. So I would believe the story. I've spoken often with him on the phone and did many high $ business deals with him. Never found his honor to be of question.

So I'd believe the story.
