Super Mario Bowl (game variation)

Post by CeleTheRef »

Mario & friends, when tired of adveturing, playing tennis, striking golf balls, racing with karts, throwing parties... they all play Blood Bowl!

It is strongly recommended that these teams play in a league of their own, rather than playing against regular BB races. I made these teams in a rush, with not much playtesting. Play then tell me if u like them.

ROSTERS
Forget money and fans. All teams come complete with 14 base players and two special Star Players. If you want to hire a new base player (because of massive killing or firing) just have one of your players skip their next game. That player will return after the match with a new mate.
There are no healers. Each teams has 4 team rerolls.

SUPER STARS
Each team has two Super Stars with special rules:

-They are the actual team coaches so they all count as Leaders and can argue the call. You cannot argue the call. No player in your team can gain the Leader trait.
-They are immortal. A Super Star that gets killed just misses one game, then comes back as a fresh new player. Before each game you may choose to "reset" a Super Star. If you do they miss the game.
-If both Super Stars in your team are out of the pitch you may NOT use team rerolls.

SPECIAL RULES
no kickoff table or handicaps. I'm going to replace them with an optional set of rules (I'll post them later). When beginning the game just roll for weather and decide if you want to send a player scouting for a new player or to reset a Super Star. When the game ends, just make skill rolls. There is no team rating as it is pointless in this variation.

HERE COME THE TEAMS!

MUSHROOM KINGDOM
STAR1 Peach Toadstool 7 2 4 7 Regenerate, Dodge (GEN, AGI)
STAR2 Toad 6 3 4 7 Guard, Stunty (GEN, AGI)
BASE Mushroom Guy 6 3 4 7 Stunty (GEN)

STAR2 Luigi 7 3 3 7 Dodge (GEN, AGI, PASS, STR)

HAUNTED MANSION

STAR2 Mr. I 6 3 3 7 Accurate, Hypnotic Gaze (GEN, PASS)
BASE Boo 6 1 4 8 Dauntless (GEN, PHY)

TROPICAL ISLAND
STAR1 Yoshi 8 3 4 6 Sure Feet, Pass (GEN, AGI, PASS)
STAR2 Baby Mario 3 1 4 6 Stunty, Dodge, Jump Up (AGI)
BASE Shy Guy 6 3 4 6 Dodge (AGI)

my first Mushroom Guys were 5 2 3 7 but then I found them too weak. After all Toad must have trained them well.

Another thing you may find weird is Baby Mario which is intentionally weaker than a rookie ShyGuy. I made it that way to balance Yoshi which is overpowered. (it's the only player with MA 8 and has surefeet to boot)
After all Baby Mario is just a crybaby

Of all the ideas I've seen this is the weirdest...

But it would let me do my mario kart impresions.

I haven't got the chance to playtest them yet. I've just made a few correction from the first draft of stats.

Peach and Bowser had 1 less MA and Toad was 5 2 3 7 with Dauntless instead of Guard, and no access to AGI skills.
I've made a few calculations with Jervis' new player cost formula and I found that Toad would cost 30'000 gold so I beefed it up. Now he should be at 90'000 or so.

If you think there is no such thing like a ST3 with Stunty then go play Wario's Woods (NES and SNES) and see what I mean.

Well if you compare the teams they seem unbalanced that was the only thing I ment.

Whatever you do you have to create Lineman that have at least some use. You cant do anything with a ST 1 and Dauntless player. With a St 3 Player he will get blocked with 3 Dice.

This is seriously wierd. Just a balance question, why the AG4 linemen on nearly every team. There are no bashy teams in Mario Land?

I'd rather the teams be like this: (Note: I haven't really thought about what they would play like, but I just like it better)

MUSHROOM KINGDOM
STAR1 Peach Toadstool 7 2 4 7 Leap, Dodge (GEN, AGI)
STAR2 Toadsworth 6 3 4 7 Guard, Stunty, Frenzy (GEN, AGI)
BASE Toad 6 2 4 7 Stunty (GEN)

DARK WORLD
STAR1 King Bowser 4 5 2 9 Mighty Blow, Thick Skull (GEN, STR)
STAR2 Tatanga 4 7 1 10 Mighty Blow, Multiple Block, Stand Firm Special: Deathroller
BASE Koopa Troopa 5 3 3 8 Thick Skull (GEN)

BROS LAND
STAR1 Mario 5 3 3 8 Block (GEN, STR)
STAR2 Luigi 7 3 3 7 Dodge, Leap (GEN, AGI, PASS,)
BASE Toad 6 2 4 7 Stunty (GEN)

HAUNTED MANSION
STAR1 Big Boo 5 1 4 9 Dauntless, Foul Appaerance (GEN, PHY)
STAR2 Kamek 6 3 3 7 Accurate, Hypnotic Gaze (GEN, PASS)
BASE Boo 6 1 4 8 Dauntless (GEN, PHY)

TROPICAL ISLAND
STAR1 Yoshi 8 3 4 6 Sure Feet, Pass (GEN, AGI, PASS)
STAR2 Baby Mario 3 1 4 6 Stunty, Dodge, Jump Up (AGI)
BASE Shy Guy 6 3 4 6 Dodge (AGI)

FOREST COUNTRY
STAR1 Donkey Kong 6 4 2 9 Block, Mighty Blow, Bone Head (GEN, STR)
STAR2 Diddy Kong 6 2 4 8 Catch, Dodge (GEN, AGI, STR)
BASE Monkey 6 2 3 7 Catch, Dodge (GEN, AGI)

WARIO BROS
STAR1 Wario 4 4 2 9 Block (GEN, STR)
STAR2 Waluigi 8 2 4 6 Catch, Dodge, Very Long Legs (GEN, PASS, AGI)
BASE Goomba 6 2 3 7 Dodge (GEN)

As you may have guessed, I am a mario nerd.
BTW:
Tatanga was the boss in super mario land. Seeing as how he is a 2 foot high blob with arms and is always in a small spaceship, I had to give him a deathroller, as some sort of... uhhh... deathroller... like... ship... thing.

And when people say "Toad" they usually refer to princess peach's assistant, but this is the name of all of the other mushroom kingdom inhabbitents. Princess peach's assistant is called toadsworth.

Tatanga is also a boss in Super Mario Land 2. Flying stuff makes no sense in Bloodbowl. I wished to include Waluigi somewhere but I wanted him a Dirty Player. Toad is included in two teams, which I wanted to avoid.

Toad is the name of Princess Peach Toadstool's assistant which is a mushroom man. Toadsworth is an old wise mushroom man who works as royal advisor. They are two different mushroom men.

But the mushroom people are called "toad", and there are many toads. And since the mario bros are supposed to come from brooklyn, why not have Hobo's for the base? Mabye you're correct about Toadsworth, but I just called him that to differ from the normal "toad", and I don't know where I read it, but it says somewhere that toadsworth was the "Longtime assistant to princess peach". So change his name to "toad, the mushroom retainer" or something as they are refered to in SMB1 (Although there were originaly 7 or them)

I kinda figured that tatanga would figure a way to get some deathroller like thing to play with.

Anyways, that was just my suggestion.

The Scrapper Gnomes on my Wee Folk team would love to show you the error of that statement.

I've played two seasons with a Wee Folk team and the Scrappers are a heck of a lot of fun and very useful. So I speak from experience when I say that ST 1 and Dauntless is not useless.
