Inducment Costing: Automatically Win an OT game
Inspired by Digger's poll regarding 1 free TD, I wonder how much TBBers would charge for an inducement which basically is a weaker version- i.e. turning a tie into a win.
Basically, the refs would be bribed to award your team the match if you can just survive to OT. Like any bribe, it would work on a 2+.

1000K plus.
This is a guarenntedd win if the game goes to OT - the other is "just" a TD.
No, NO and NO!!!

Almost the same as a 1 TD. Its only marginally worse since the difference is that if you are 1 down you still lose.
I'd never include either since it sort of impinges on the meta-game considerations - the advantage of winning is more money & FF - and I'd oppose an inducement that just gave extra cash anyway.

I'd never add either one to my leagues... on principle alone. However, I was just curious what a fair cost would be. My first reaction was exactly what Darkson posted.
However, in the other post a +1 TD was valued routinely at less than 500k!
To be sure, automatically winning any game which goes into OT is weaker than getting a free TD at the start of the game!
If a free TD was worth 450k, I would value this at 350k. Personal feeling here...

Actually, it's much weaker than "just a TD"Darkson wrote:1000K plus.

If the underdog outscores the opposition on the pitch, than it's irrelevant.
If the underdog ties the opposition on the pitch, both methods have the underdog winning, although this method only gives them a 5/6 chance.
If the underdog is outscored by 1 on the pitch, the other method gives OT, whereas this method leaves it as a loss for the underdog.
In all ways... the proposed method is weaker than giving away a free TD!

I respect it, but don't understand your opinion.Darkson wrote:I disagree.
But it's all academic, no matter what either one of us thinks about the relative value of this inducement vs. a free TD, these rules aren't getting within a ten mile radius of any leagues or tournies I'd ever play in!

I'd allow it but on the condition that OT was was not used!
But I really think it's a horrible way to lose (and win) a game. I hate penalty shoot outs and I hate the penalty die offs that can occur in tournies on occasion. It's too random a way to win a game.
Speaking of OT, in fact I've never played in a league or tourney that uses it...

Slow Bashy teams would love it.
No more worry about having to get that 2-1 victory just let them score whenever in the 1st half while you bash bash bash away. Then second half just slowly walk up and win 1-1.
I'm an english player anyway so we are happy to let a game finish in a draw, 'eck in Cricket it almost manditory.
