Hi SillySod,
Plasmoid.... what do you think of them being able to get general access but keeping their current starting profile?
Sounds strong - then again halflings are super weak.
Fens league has used it (perhaps still is?) and say that it is not a problem at all.
I have no problem believing that.

So if that happened, I'd be all for it.
Mind you, there are some other changes I'd prefer over the skill access. IMO it'll be several games before this change does anything - and they're just so ridiculously bad right out of the box. I'd like something that works from the get go.

I'm still thinking stuff like:
*Dryad positional. Don't really care what it does. Thrower? Blocker? 0-2 or 0-4.
*AV8 halflings. Yep, you heard me. That would make gobbos 6237 and halflings 5238. Very comparable - and gobbos would still have all their nice weaponry. Halflings would still suck, but at least your numbers wouldn't be reduced so quickly.
*Loner off the halfling treemen. (Or a change to take root - but that would affect the wood elf team too, and they don't need a boost).
*Atropabelladonna suggested 0-2 halflings with kitchen utensils (Stab). I love that.

Cheers
Martin

 DvT would be hilarious.
Really how far can you dive at someone when you're only 3 feet tall? Probably couldn't dive out of your own square.
" a dive and a miss . . . " hehehehe :D

Making wrestle an agility skill and swapping amazons to agility access as basic instead of general access could be interesting. It might upset too many other things though I guess.

I like the idea of a stabby halfling chef :)

Is wrodge the same as destle? :-?

Perhaps give them Regenerate?

All those tasty aromas from the dugout help those plucky haflings overcome almost any injury... well, except broken jaws

Opposition coaches like Haflings because they're squishy, and I'd hate to see that disappear. Haflings are tough to coach, because they're fragile - they die so fast that gaining skills becomes a pipe dream, and end a game lucky to have some on the pitch.

So, if they have regenerate they are still squishy - maintaining their character - but are not as fragile. Sure, they get cleared off the pitch, but the plucky little fellahs just keep coming back for more, and every now and then get a skill! It would make them more fun to use, without drastically altering their balance.

In my opinion :)

don't take away dodge. they need it to survive. Don't make any plans on the basis of skill development either as most halflings won't skill up (or will take an eternity too).

On that basis i'd further reduce the cost of the chef, and maybe add in an extra positional. A halfling runner or thief or something.

Halfling thief.... a halfling with surehands + stripball?

Surehands, stripball, kick, and wrestle are all skills I'd like to see on the halfling roster. They all give a team that extra emphasis on the ball while still leaving halflings being pretty awful as players. Perhaps halfling teams have started to pour all their training into just a few of the most promising lads, hence the extra skills?

(I will restrain from posting my flings + pie-wagon + OFAB idea)

Thief could be MA6 strip ball or MA6 sure hands. Could do both, but this is flings we're talking about and we wouldn't really want to create a good player.......

Just give the Halflings Generals skill access and a price of 40K. If thats too good I laugh my *** off! As long as halflings die on dodges etc. there wont be many blodging halflings around.
