Terradons; Lizardmen Secret Weapon????

Post by tommy316 »

I was just browsing GW's online store and saw the Terradons in the Lizardmen section and got to thinkin'; How about using them as Secret Weapons- but I need some help polishing the idea I'm still rusty with the BB rules and all.
Here's the idea:
The Lizardmen have trained a Terradon to catch a football. So during the game it can swoop down and intercept the opposing teams pass and then drop it off to a Lizardmen player. (I figured this for INT's only, not as an offensive weapon although I guess you could make it one as well)

1. They should have a Low Penalty Roll -OR- (low is bad, right? RUSTY)
2. They should be one of the more expensive weapons. (or a moderate mix of both (6+ and 70K???)
3. Harder then a normal interception. (AG 2???)
4. Dropping it to another player should be like a Long Bomb pass. (AG 2??)
5. Catching the dropped ball should be harder also. (-1 mod)
6. "Incomplete" drops would scatter like a Long Bomb.
7. Maybe limit the range that the Terradon will carry the ball before dropping it- Long Pass Range from point of INT. (Eliminating a "100 yard" INT return)
8. Possibility that the Terradon will take off with the ball or swallow it; opponents get the ball back but have to set up again?

Like I said- I'm REALLY rusty and all my BB stuff is still packed up from the move. So if anybody can help iron this out with some suggestions that'd be excellent.

Thanks, JT

Seems like a fun house rule. You should try to produce a streamlined set of rules that are easy to use. Suggestion:

Terradon - cost 40k, penalty roll 8+
-----------------------------------------
Terradon can be used to intercept a pass - no player may attempt an interception should the terradon try it. Roll a d6:
1 - terradon flies off and is never seen again
6 - interception: Terradon drops the ball to a square within short pass distance from the intended receiver of the pass. It scatters three times before landing.

Roll for penalty only if the terradon intercepted or attempted to intercept during that drive.

Alright here's what I've got now;

Cost: 70K
Penalty Roll: 7+

1.) Terradon's may attempt to intercept short, long, and long bomb passes and Hail Mary's; THEY MAY NOT TRY FOR QUICK PASSES (they just can't swoop in that fast)

2.) Terradon's coach may pick where the point of Interception occurs.

3.) Treat as a normal INT attempt by a AG 3 player. No Tackle Zone penalties.

4.) If INT is successful, then Terradon will drop off the ball to any teammate within Long Pass Range. The drop off will be treated as a LONG BOMB pass (normal passing rules). If no teammate is within Long Pass Range then the Terradon will fly off with the ball and the teams must set up again, the opposing team gets the ball back and the Lizardmen team loses a turn as if a turnover occured.

5.) After the INT, treat as a normal turnover. But, the drop-off will be the first action of the teams turn. And if the drop-off lands incomplete then the teams turn is over.

6.) Penalty Roll is done only if the Terradon makes a successful INT. If the Terradon fails the Penalty Roll, it is lost for the game. The ref's have captured the Terradon and placed him in a cage. Roll normally for confiscation of the Terradon after the game.

That's all I've got for now,

ANY SUGGESTIONS????????

-JT

No need of talking about AG3 there. Just say it succeeds on a 6+. Simpler.

Instead of rolling for passing and stuff, let the terradon simply "drop" the ball to a desired square - 3 scatters before landing. Making a pass roll is unnecessary IMO. Then let the new turn commence, so you can drop 5) altogether. Rather harsh if the drop-off can cost you your next turn.

And penalty roll should be made as long as the terradon attempted to intercept, but the penalty roll should be harder (8+ or 9+)

Oh, and drop the cost to 50k at least. Far too expensive as it stands. It could also be recorder in the apothecary column if it costs 50k, as this will not be added to any players cost.
