Oh, come on, EVERYBODY knows that 1/36 chances fails about half the time.Mestari wrote: 1.With a reroll, a nearly certain event fails only 1/36.

Still, wanting to make it harder for the low-ag players to succeed at feats such as intercepting would turn the odds a lot for the teams that can play the game with very likely dice rolls and high movement like woodies and skaven.

You misunderstand how luck applies in the game. The more equally luck applies to both players the less of a factor it is. If you make something more likely for one team and less likely for another you don't reduce the luck aspect of the game, you increase it.

Sure...but at THAT point chances are 31/36 that i win....if i lose that game, i would call that bad luck...and i hate it when luck is the deciding factor

In my experience game results only come down to luck when two players are of about equal skill (or played with about equal skill that game).
The only game I ever felt that i lost solely because of a dice roll was lost in overtime and I only thought i'd win because i won the toss, so i could hardly say i'd been cheated.
I think the real point is that both players know the odds when they make their moves, so the game should be played with this knowledge rather than adjusting the (fine) game balance by changing the odds of success.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

Munkey hit it on the head when he said something to the effect of luck becoming a bigger factor the closer two coaches are in skill. As others have said, the way to exert your skill in BB is to make the other coach roll as many dice in offensive situations as you can and as few in defensive (interception, armor, injury
) as you can.
Zombie had I think a good point (really, I said that) when he said that you made the choice to throw over the mummy--you don't throw over anyone, and luck in this instance doesn't come into play. Instead, it would be all about skill and your choice to take the safer alternative.
For what it's worth, the quote "chance favors the prepared mind" (Pasteur), applies very well to BB. The thing I love is figuring out what to do so that I can respond best when the dice will do what I want as well as what I don't want--THAT makes me feel like a good coach

I like the way that its always possible to pick up the ball, regardless of wether you have an AG1 player attempting to do it in 3 tackle zones. Just as it is good that an AG5 player can still fumble a quick pass even with accurate and pass skills. Having a chance is what keeps you going sometimes.
Its all the lead up plays you have to consider as well, how did the mummy get into a position to intercept the pass in the first place? that wasn't pure luck or a 1 in 6 chance. There were tactics invloved other factors luck chance whatever.
Yes 1 in 6 is a big chance sometimes, sometimes it seems easier than your standard 2+ roll to go for it into the end zone!

I think that as soon as you accept that Blood Bowl is not chess, you start to enjoy it more.Cooper wrote:Ok, this is what i think:

I generally hate it when a game is won or lost by sheer luck...
What do you think?

The dice add an element of chance. Blood Bowl is a game that employs strategy and luck in almost equal doses.
The key is to minimize your dice rolls, and to force the other coach to maximize his.
And yeah... Mummies fluke interceptions now and then (I have one Mummy with two), but that's Blood Bowl.
And the way I look at it... it's not my fault the other coaches threw the ball over my defensive line without having Safe Throw for their players.

With a re-roll, it's like a four-dice block!
