Night Watch!

I'm just sat here rolling ideas over in my head and this one leapt at me, i don't know if anyone here reads terry pratchett books but i was thinking maybe it'd be a cool idea to make a night watch blood bowl team, seeing a Captain Carrot in the books likes a spot of footy as it were, as is proven in the book Jingo! It'd be a wierd team, what with Dwarfs, Watchmen, Stone Trolls, occasional zombie, Gnome and, well Angua the werewolf!
Could be interesting though i'd imagine you'd limit to Dwarf, Watchmen, keep a special stone troll for big guy, to represent Detritus! Keep Dwarf for short range defensive stuff, and watchmen for the rest, then i suppose there can be a ton of star players to represent Vimes, Carrot, Angua, Nobby and Colon! ANyway, just a concept! I'll scribble up some possible stats if anyones interested!

Don't forget the Clay Golems, Gargoyles and Nobby. I don't think any species has yet laid claim to Corpal Nobbs.

Thats true, i msut include Dorfl, but i don't think the gargoyles are realistic players sadly, too slow!
Actually Nobby could be really weak but very agile so as to run away from fights but also have dirty player! heh heh!

Gnome are entertaining me, they could be 7 2 2 7 with stunty, dauntless and frenzy! heh heh!

Maybe Corpal Nobbs and Commander Vimes could both have Dirty Player, but can't use it if Captain Carrot is standing on the pitch?

I know it's way too gimmicky, but you wouldn't play the team in a very serious league.

Gimmicky is always good, once a league we like to bring in an extra team for pure amusements sake, last season it was a halfling team with two tree men! Anyway! Characters to be included!
Cheery,(lol cross dressing dwarf) Reg Shoe,Igor?, Vimes, Carrot, Dorfl, Detritus, Angua, Colon, Nobby, (Can't remember the Gnomes name, Wee something, MCArthur?)

I was thinking after that little lot you could have o-4 linemen 0-2 dwarf!
So the above would count as kinda half skilled star players who earn star player rolls less often, would cost a bit more but make it more interesting!

Detritus and DOrfl never take to the pitch at the same time!
Oh oh oh! Nobby MUST have Foul Appearance! LoL!

Special rules!
Characters- Only one of each character may be fielded, their starplayer rolls are less frequent
0-9 none
10-25 one
26-55 two
56-99 three
100+ four
Standard watchmen and dwarfs are exempt from this!
Angua can choose at the beginning of any drive to take her wolf form or human form, unless carrot is on the pitch then she must play as human!
Cheery- Wont play without Angua on the team!
Carrot- If Captain Carrot is on the pitch no fouling is to be done by his team he wont play without Commander S. Vimes!
Igor- Can re roll an apothecary roll if it fails, but ONLY if he's on the pitch!
Sergeant Colon And Nobby- The opponent may choose to spend 10,000gp to bribe each of these players not to turn up for the match! Though if carrot is playing he can convince them to turn up anyway on a roll of 5 or 6, the opponents money is then waisted! AT the end of the match Nobby ALWAYS liberates 10,000GP from the winnings and adds it to the "kitty!" Nobby wont play without Colon on the team!
Buggy Swires- Misses the match on a roll of 1, due to circumstances only possible to one so few inches tall!
Reg Shoe- Starts with niggling injury that only Igor can reroll, apothecary cant!
Big Guys- It is entirely possible for the Watch too have all three big guys on their roster, though only one may be fielded, the selection of which MUST be made before the match begins, and even if that big guy is injured or sent off he cannot be replaced by one of the others, they're just not prepared!

Special rule Detritus (and other DiscWorld trolls) : his intelligence should be based upon the weather table

Sweltering heat & very sunny : really stupid
Nice & pouring rain : bonehead
Blizzard : nothing

You might also consider not being able to field them in case of sweltering heat, since DW trolls come to a 'stand still' in hot weather.

Secret weapon : siege crossbow - I'd like to see that one

You'd need a scorecard to keep track of it, but it would be fun to use for a few games. I really like being able to bribe Colon and Nobby off the pitch.

Siege Crossbow should have a penalty check of 4, but needs special rules for Detritus to argue/intimidate the ref himself!

I forgot about detritus and the weather, i had considered it before i started too, maybe normal weather he's really stupid, sweltering heat he can't move from were he's standing either or movement is greaty reduced and blizzard he goes down to bonehead!

We don't use secret weapons or mages in my league so those rules i'm sketchy on!

I'm going to try this team out soon, it'd be interesting enough to jsut make a team with 6 watchmen, 4 dwarfs, downspout and maybe Vimes or angua, but i think this is the kind of team for one of matchs, one gimmick team per season is always amusing! I've avoided giving anyone str 4 or ag4, (except Angua, but with her it's rather a hard choice between her agile human form or angry wolf form!) also avoiding to many powerfull skill like block and dodge, tackle, etc! A few people have Dirty player but Carrot is a handy player to have with the leader skill! A few have foul appearance but they're either really weak or less likely to show up, that kind of thing, should make for extremely chaotic matches!

Buggy has got to be the best character there though, you could swat him like a fly, but he could take you and yer army on offense at least!
