I know som eof the old cards are overpowered in the LRB, but I still want the cards. Not som stupid table.
Remake the printout sheets, anything. Bring Back Cards!!!
Yeah me too! in my league we are still using them, but we've removed those who can directly prevent a TD (mine, assasin, trampoline trap, etc.), and we don't use cards at all in the finals... It's allright that way.
It's not that bad for the game, it just adds some more fun
The fluff of blood bowl suggests alot of coaches using dirty tricks, paying off referees, spiking the opponents refreshments, kidnapping their coach, greasing their equiptment, rigging the field, riging anything. The fluff states is so badly, that they had to hire a new lot of referees to govern the conduct of the first lot.
But I hardly find this represented in the game at all.
And there is not much point in a dirty trick, if the opposing coach already know all about it. But they shouldn't be so powerful they directly negate a TD. That is too powerful. But if it can be used indirectly, it's not so bad really. And I agree, for semifinals and finals, they should restricted alot more.
However, it is fun to have the cards at hand, it is fun to worry about what you opponent has in hand, and stuff like that. Adds a little more mayhem and fun.

Well we use all the cards (well most of them) - and if your opponent wins because of one - you basically have to take it on the chin....
Would never use them at a tournament, but in a league (even the play off finals) they are great... and it sets up some interesting grudges for the future...
Exploding player is by far the league favourite...

that sounds like a very clever game mechanic to me.
how does it work out?
Assistant coaches - you can pay one 50,ooo GPs to train a player on your team. If you do one player misses the match (intensive training).
At the end of that match roll a D6. On a 1 the player is simply too thick. On a 2+ he gets 5 SPPs as if he were awarded an MVP....
(note how expensive this is... deliberately)
Assistant coaches - Pay as many as you like to go searching for star players (only applies in our league - 1 star per league - then you can go and search for another griff or whatever)
cost 10,000 Gps
D6 roll:
1 - coach dies in horrible accident
2-3 - Nothing found
4-5 - Star player found but add D6 * 10000 GPs to his hire fee (he's busy!)
6 - You find the player who agrees to play for you
