I guess the original point I tried to make got lost. Anyway, basically trying to justify changing game convention/mechanics to fit fluff is pretty stupid. Fluff is for background info and helps flesh out the game. Game conventions such as names of skills have nothing to do with fluff, so arguing that a change needs to be made because of fluff really doesn't make any sense. No one would argue that the name or mechanic of GFIs should be changed because of fluff, what's the difference with skills?? None. If you can't follow this line of logic, then there is no hope for you. If you don't like writing Hail Mary Pass on the skill sections of your roster, then use the abbreviation HMP. Everyone (even those who don't play BB) would know what Hail Mary Pass means (an extremely long pass that has no accuracy and quite lucky to be caught), but using Hail Nuffle Pass would just confuse things (you would have to wind up explaining that it is like a HMP anyway, so use the correct name).

From what I can tell, this idea was just posted here to get a reaction from the NBA so should be considered trolling and nothing else.

Sorry, Torg, but my proposition was genuinely NOT to get all the hysterical NBA cultists to jump on me ! This place seemed the most suitable to point out a tiny change that could make BB more consistent and coherent (the name of the HMP IS incoherent).
I was actualy hoping for more sensible arguments, hoping to influence the people involved in the LRB change in october so that this proposition could be debated. It could even have been the trigger for further developments of the BB background.
I'll stick to the game, then.

heh, Yann, you've no hope of influencing the boys at GW. If they don't take any notice about over-powered experimental teams, they won't even consider changing a skill name.

For the same reason as presented by Yann tha Boss we could call the Hail Mary Pass simply Nuffle Sucks Pass.
Your team is in a bad situation and the only change to win or turn the tides of faith is this Nuffle Sucks Pass
