The All Catch team re-visited (AKA Half Elves)

This was brought up a while ago, so as I revisited the Deadlings, I figured I'd revisit the Half Elves... How does this roster look?

Code: Select all

Half-Elf
Half Elfs are normally the offspring of a Human male and Female Elf, nine times out of ten they were not conceived in a loving relationship, but one born of pillage and rape by invading marauders or pirates.

Outcast from Elven society because of the human heritage the children often grow up resenting the Elven way, jealous of the succes of the Elven parentage they often take up arms against the Elf kin. This resentment often manifests itself on the Blood Bowl pitch where the Half Elves make it a point to neutralise the throwing game loved by the Elves.

While not as agile as a pure Elf, they are generally still more agile than a normal Human and use this to interrupt and disrupt the passing game of teams throughout the Blood Bowl circuit. The major downside however is the reliance on playing against a throwing team thus they have often suffered embarrasing defeats by running teams which has hindered any attempts by Half Elven teams to get to a major final.

0-12 Linemen 7/3/3/7 -- Catch -- 60k -- Gen, Agi
0-4 Runner 7/3/3/7 -- Catch, Dodge, Sure Hands -- 90k -- Gen, Agi
0-2 Blitzer 7/3/3/8 -- Block, Catch, Pass Block -- 110k -- Gen, Agi

Re-Rolls: 60,000

skavens, just skavens with acces to AG skills, and without throwers...

I like them which reminds me about too many starting skills. Maybe taking off the pass block of blitzers and add 0-2 pass blockers instead? Call them Catchers. Also dodge, catch and sure hands is a bit many skills but maybe it's fine because catch has only limited use on so many players.

Ok, how about the following?

Code: Select all

0-12 Linemen 7/3/3/7 -- Catch -- 60k -- Gen, Agi
0-4 Runner 7/3/3/7 -- Catch, Sure Hands -- 80k -- Gen, Agi
0-2 Defender 6/3/3/8 -- Catch, Pass Block -- 80k -- Gen, Str
0-2 Blitzer 7/3/3/8 -- Block, Catch -- 100k -- Gen, Agi

Dodge would be OK on the runners... or maybe I would give them access to passing-abilities. Dump-Off would be a nice one on this team.

Or maybe just give them a slight mix of Human and Wood Elf stats?

0-12 Lineman: 6/3/3/8 No Skills /Gen, Ag 50k
0-4 Catcher: 8/2/4/7 Catch, Dodge / Gen, Ag 90k
0-2 Thrower: 6/3/3/7 Pass, Sure Hands / Gen, Pass, Ag 70k
0-2 Blitzer: 7/3/3/8 Block / Gen, Ag 100k

Re-Rolls: 50k

I did a quick maths and as far as I see it, all the players are a bit too cheap for their statlines.
also, why should an elven team have 60k rerolls?

Looks like Skaven minus mutations but with AG access and cheaper re-rolls to me.

I like the all-catch theme, "can you spell interception?" :D

but it should remain AG3 in overall, access to AG skills is Elfish enough for Half-Elfs IMHO.

It isn't an elven team. See, no ag4 of elves, only the pointy ears ;) I liked Ithilkir's roster. The characteristic of this team is it's catch on all guys which gives an opportunity to use trr on pass not to catch. This way short passing game is very likely for this team. Don't know if linemen agility-access is unbalancing but if somebody wants to test it

How about:

Code: Select all

0-12 Linemen 6/3/3/7 -- Catch -- 50k -- Gen
0-4 Runner 7/3/3/7 -- Catch, Dodge -- 80k -- Gen, Agi
0-2 Dumper 6/3/3/8 -- Catch, Dump-Off -- 70k -- Gen, Agi
0-2 Blitzer 7/3/3/8 -- Block, Catch, Pass Block -- 110k -- Gen, Agi
Lineman reduced in cost and MV, no Agility Access
Runner dropped Surehands for Dodge
added Dumper (stupid name), with Dump Off, but no pass skill access. Higher AV, because they exect to get hit alot :)
Blitzers back to 3 skills, but 0-2

Lets break this down.

We should have elements from being Half-Elf:

All Agility Skill access,
All Agility 4, -or-
Stupidly expensive players in all positions.

Elements from being Half-Human:

All Agility 3,
Millions of skills on players, -or-
AV 8 on many, fast on other.

Elements from both races:

50k rerolls,
Access to Apoc,
Access to Wiz

Elements from a grudge against elves:

Catch on all players.

I think that roster would work.

I tried to avoid using a thrower position due to the fluff I wrote about them, but you easily make new fluff up for the all catch team (ACT), it doesn't have to be Half Elves :) If anyone is willing to playtest any of the rosters, then just yell :)

i wouldn't mind play testing them
