Stone lizards

Once, when a group of lizardmen explorers visited the Loren forest, they learned the art of throwing and catching from the Wood Elves. The sauruses of the group learned how they could throw a ball, and the skinks learned how they could catch it. In addition, the treemen in the wood told the sauruses how they could throw the skinks.
When the lizards left the forest, several months later, they where experts at throwing and cathing. They then traveled to the top of the Grey mountains. On their way, orcs from the mountain tried to attack the lizards several times, but it always ended with some orcs being taken as prisoners, and the rest chasen away (they where afraid of the rock-throwing sauruses!). The lizardmen cut the hands off their prisoners, and took the no-hands-orcs whith them to the top of the mountains. There they build a large castle of stone on a great field of rocks. The orc slaves was forced to guard the castle. As a consequence, the orcs learned how to run fast, as the lizards forced them to practice running every day. But the lizards started to live lives where they sat in their chairs every day, and their slaves brought them food and everything else they wanted. This made the lizards fat, and slow. But though they lost their speed, they didn't loose their new throwing and cathing abilities. And these abilities where really helpfull when the stone-lizards found their way to the Blood Bowl arenas...

Code: Select all

Position MA ST AG AV Skills
0-12 Guards 9 3 2 9 Guard, No hands (General skills)
0-6 Throwers 2 2 4 7 Pass, Sure hands, Throw Team-Mate (General and passing skills)
0-6 Catchers 2 2 3 7 Catch, Stunty, Right Stuff (Agility skills)

I think "throw team mate" is a very fun action, but unfortunatly only orcs, goblins and haflings
normally have access to it. This is a team that is so slow that they have to throw team mates if they
want to be able to score. Both throwers and catchers are weak and vulnerable, and that's why they have
excellent guards to protect them.

Um...

ok... with no comments on the bent fluff...

the team looks like a real bitch to play... fun, but frustrating as all heck...

the only players who can move faster then a treeman have no hands...

Hmmm... that much guard is borderline broken... no-matter how sucky the rest of the team is...

the only play i could see is a slow moving cage with a thrower and 2 catchers inside, surounded by a hive of swarming guards, moving 2 squares at a time and almost impenitrable with all that guard... then getting halfway down the opposition side and TTMing, having the catcher scatter out of scoreing range or off the field...

I must say it wouldn't be fun to see two of these teams play eachother...

A ST 2 throwing a team-mate?

There's definately something wrong in it...

Why did they teach the orcs to run fast?

JJ has a lot to answer for with his Khemri Elf snafu. I'm sure we'll see these Lizard Orcs alongside Undead Dwarves and Chaos Amazons in the Vault before too long  .

Yes, I think I agree. :)

Maybe bacause they needed better guards?

Something wrong, yes. I know that before when throw team mate could be chosen as a skill by players that didn't start with it, you had to have a minimum strength to use it. But don't you think it still should be possible to explain an ST 2 throw team mate in some way? Maybe they have magic helmets...

Two MA upgrades and sure feet, and you have orcs that can run 9 squares

Hmm. I kind of like the thought of a high armor, high movement, low agility team. 4 AG throwers with Sure Hands and Pass along with 12 9 MA guards is a bit much, though. How about something like:

0-12 Guards 7 3 1 9 Gen, ST
0-2 Catchers 8 2 2 8 Catch, Gen AG
0-2 Blitzers 8 3 1 9 Block, Gen ST
0-2 Throwers 7 3 2 9 Pass, Gen Pass

Not sure if it is balanced, or even a good idea, but it is interesting and different.

Quite like the sound of that Skummy. Its a little less perverse than the orignal. Like you said 'interesting premise'

Cheers

But now there is no throw team-mate or guard  . Could this be changed to:

0-12 Linemen 7 3 1 9 Gen
0-2 Guards 7 2 3 9 Dodge, Guard, No hands, Stunty, Right Stuff Gen
0-2 Catchers 8 2 2 8 Catch, Gen AG
0-2 Back-fighters 8 4 1 9 No hands, Stunty, Right stuff Gen ST
0-2 Throwers 7 3 2 9 Pass, Throw team-mate Gen Pass

Now you can only have two players that start with guard. They also have dodge and stunty to make it easier to get them where you want their assist, but strength 2 because they are not meant to be fitghters themselves.
Blitzers are replaced with back-fighters. These players are meant to be thrown over the LOS and fight their enemy from behind. The players with right stuff also have no hands to prevent one-turn touchdowns.
