Homestar Runner team

Hey all

In a moment of unspoken brilliance (or stupidity), a thought occurred to me for a bloodbowl team focused around the Homestar Runner gang (http://www.homestarrunner.com if you have no idea what I'm talking about - go there and laugh, you'll thank me later :))

They sell two sets of miniatures that would be perfect for a team, pictures are below from their store. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/homestarrunner/horufi.html Both sets of minis cost $45 together total (now anyway, since the 2nd set has $5 off usual price) so price is comporable to buying any other BB team from GW.

Below is my proposed idea for the team and their abilities... some skills were chosen almost at random since i couldnt find anything that really "fit" the character's MO, but i tried to apply appropriate skills to the players where i could (Very Long Legs to Homestar, Dirty Player to StrongBad, Stunty to TheCheat, Foul Appearance to the Poopsmith... ;)). Feedback is of course appreciated since I'd like to give this team a shot on the pitch at some point :) The only thing I still have to work out is which areas players can skill under, but the rest is below.

Code: Select all

Homestar Runner Star Player 6/3/3/7 Leader, Very Long Legs $80,000
Strong Bad Star Player 6/3/3/7 Dirty Player, Dodge, Frenzy $100,000
The Cheat Star Player 8/2/3/7 Stunty, Right Stuff $70,000
Strong Mad Star Player 4/5/2/9 Throw Teammate, Thick Skull, Multiple Block $110,000
Strong Sad Star Player 5/3/3/8 Hypnotic Gaze $60,000
Marzipan Star Player 6/2/4/7 Can't Catch or Pass. Side Step $50,000
Bubs Star Player 6/3/3/7 Block, Guard $90,000
King of Town Star Player 6/3/3/7 Pass Block, Shadowing $80,000
Poopsmith Star Player 5/3/3/7 Foul Appearance, Shovel [acts as Claw] $70,000
Pom-Pom Star Player 6/3/3/8 Jump Up $60,000
Homsar Star Player 6/3/3/7 Stunty, Right Stuff $70,000
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                                                                    $840,000
                                                                 Rerolls x $50,000
Coach = Coach Z
Coach Notes: Whenever you decalre an action other than Move, roll 2D6. On 12, Coach Z yells
an incohernt command to the player and you must roll another D6. On 1, the
player cannot interpret the command and must forgo the declared action and all
             other actions this team turn
I was also thinking of adding Trogdor to the Team List but since they have not released a mini of him I decided against it. A quick conversion of putting a human arm onto a dragon figure would make a reasonable substiture in the meantime though :) Two of the figures from the set (running homestar and bucket-hand strongbad) wouldnt be on the team but i thought they could make fun alternate minis for the game, homestar ref and cheerleader strongbad or something.

Anyway that's it, i just thought some people may enjoy the idea so I thought I would share.

Funny idea. A few other ideas might be...

1) I don't see Strong Mad as the frenzy type, but definately Dirty Player.
2) The Cheat should have Dodge.
3) Strong Mad needs Mighty Blow, and Really Stupid added to him.
4) Jus because Marzipan doesn't have arms doean't mean she can't handle the ball. She plays guitar after all.
5) I'm not sure why you gave King of Town Pass Block, but I do see why he might have Shadowing, since he's always following people around who don't want him around. Also, he should have Always Hungry even if he can't pick anyone up.
6) The Poopsmith's shovel could be used as a Poison Dagger instead of Claws.
7) Pom-Pom should have a Strength of at least 4, and Block. The guy can really kick butt when he takes a notion.
8) Homsar isn't really stunty. He's a little bigger than Strong Bad.

is that a good speechless or a bad speechless nazgit? ;)

nice ideas shadow monkey. my thoughts on the suggestions...

1) i assume you meant you dont think strong BAD should have frenzy... personally i disagree since the guy can get pretty nuts sometimes :)
2) dodge on the cheat... hmm, maybe. ill think about that one
3) Agreement Strong Mad should also have Really Stupid, but i was debating originally to put either multiple block OR mighty blow on him and went with multiple block. mighty blow may be a better fit though.
4) good call on marzipan's guitar. i like removing her ballhandling skills but it really might be too much of a negatrait... at the same time, i still think it's funny. but if i keep it i need to relabel it to "no hands" since that truly is what im going after with her.
5) pass block on KoT was one of those "meaningless" skills I talked about because i wanted him to have something other than shadowing... always hungry does fit him to a T though
6) I was actually thinking of changing the poopsmith's "Claw" to "Stab" since that can be an effect of wielding any item that can "stab, slash, or hack" and the shovel fits that description perfectly.
7) Agree on PomPom, especially after the incident where SB tried to light PomPom on fire.
8) Eh, homsar IS short, i thought shorter than SB... but he's certainly not as short as the cheat. Perhaps I could remove that and add Loner. It seems to fit him

glad you like the idea :)
