Would passblock become a useful skill or too good if it was also allowed to be used against handoffs? but against handoffs you'd have to get into the TZ of the reciever.

just a thought.

It would probably still not be better than some other General skills.

I'd like it, it makes it somewhat more difficult to plan your pass and handoff properly.

The Pass Block skil is already a very useful one. The ability to move a tackle zone onto the player receiving the ball, or even the thrower increasing chance of failure is brilliant. Consider, a Pass Blocker with Tackle, Diving Tackle, or Shadowing who had otherwise been carefully avoided, moving into postion to pin the catcher. Now consider two of them. You could cover most of the backfield with that set-up and make getting a pass off very difficult.

What this leads up to is that giving that benefit to players against a hand off would be FAR too good. Imagine four players with that skill in and around the ruck for the ball. You would be able to almost redeploy your entire defence if the opponent tried for a hand off.

The Pass Block skill is already a corker. Doesn't need or warrant a boost in this regard.

Nah, it shouldn't be allowed against hand-offs, not even just to put a TZ on the receiver. I think pass block is good enough as it is.

My only problem with pass block is that it does not take into account the speed of the player making the move. eg a player with MA 8 or 9 should be able to cover more ground to make their block than, say, a player with MA 6 or 7.
I would suggest that a player with Pass Block should be allowed to move half their MA, rounding down, when using the skill. So....

MA 8/9 - move 4 squares
MA 6/7 - 3 squares

MA 5 or less - 2 squares
MA 10 or more - 4 I reckon. 5 squares is probably too much.
