Kicking

Kicking skills have been done in the past but I'd like to take my shot at them :)

General Skills:

Punt: Nominate a square anywhere on the pitch. Roll a D6 on a 2+ the ball scatters D6 squares from the nominated spot. ie..just like a kickoff scatter. Kick skill may be used to halve the scatter. On a roll of 1 the ball is muffed and scatters one square from the kicker. Note, the use of this skill is a turnover.

Kick spin: the kicker is able to put spin on the ball to control the direction of the bounce once the kick hit the ground. After a kick hits the ground (punt or kick off) the kicker may use this skill to pick the direction of the bounce. ie do not roll a d8 for bounce.

Karate Kick: considered a block action. You may kick an opponent instead of blocking him. Roll a D6. Compare AG and for every 2 AG greater than opponent add +1 or if Opponent has higher AG then it would be -1 for every 2 AG. ie: ag 3 against ag1 add +1. ag5 on ag1 add +2. ag3 on ag2 no bonus. A 5+ knocks down the opponent. AV roll is made at +2--might blow does not work with this or claw or rsf. But since kicking is illegal, the ref will send off the kicker on a 6 (does not effect the eye). on a roll of a 1 the kicker is knocked down and it is a turnover. (opponent does not get to use mighty blow or claw or rsf against this knockdown).

just my thoughts for now ;)

How about using the throw in teplate, plced facing the direction you want, more controll of a kick, but not complete controll of the direction?

Kick spin would definetely be popular for elves, in combination with kick it means you can put the ball 4 squares away from the back corner and kick towards the corner without risk of a touchback. :o

Let's see those khemri form a cage then!

well there's always Bad kick ;) ---I HATE THAT PBBL has taken this out...

but it's definitely not a "game-breaking skill"

The throw in template is probably a good idea though too!

Was also going to suggest the Throw-In template - we need to keep some randomness in BB after all. ;)

Isn't the Karate Kick skill much the same as the old Kantona Kick, named for the former French footballer who made a name for himself by drop-kicking a fan in the stands?

I like all these ideas, there is DEFINITELY not enough kicking in the game IMHO. Using the Throw-In Template for Kick Spin is a great idea!

You should certainly be allowed to drop kick the ball as an action in a turn as this fits with football. possibly only allowed one drop kick if you have a kicker but other rules for kicking still apply, ball scatters 1d6 randomly from where placed. I like this better than hail mary and it seems to fit better!!

he made a name for himself by being a very good player, one of those responsible for ManU rebirth.
he also had a bad temper, and tended to kick people when they dared insult him, even if they felt they were protected by being 5 meters away from the field =)

Definately prefer the kick for the real long pass, HM would be up to bomb range but high, so no intecept and add 1 scatter. Even an accurate pass scatter once

yeah something would need to be done to long bomb to make it slightly different from punt...or alter punt.
