New Inducement (?): Spot 'em a TD!

This idea may not last a flaming half-second, but LR got me to thinkin' (the only way to be down that much early could be an inducement): when you want to even up the odds in an uneven contest, you spot the underdog points!

What's your opinion on the worth of a TD?

I'd say it is worth at least as much as inducing Morg ... ie 450k.

More than 400K. A clever coach with the right team can reap huge rewards from this. A rookie WE team can score at will against even developed oppostion, and then it's 2-0 and your opponent can grind for 2-2 or give the WEs a chance for another TD. Any team against slow opposition like Khemri or Dwarfs would have a field day with this.

Charlotte agrees.

One thing to do it as a Special Card

"The team makes a real false start. All players may take a move action, but not blitzing and blocking. This is played just before the kick-off."

If opponent gets Blitz its screwed, but otherwise its good. Could this fit as a 400K Card?

Surely since I only get +1 to my winnings role if I win the game by that 1 TD, it should only be worth 10,000 gold !?

Seriously though, this would have to be the most valuable thing you can ever give a team. It should be more than the most expensive star, plus babes, plus a wizard. Many games will be decided by a single TD, and to simply hand one over is massive. I would ballpark it as 500k-600k at least. The very least!

I think that there would likely be other new things that could be induced that have been discussed on other threads that would add more to the game. But if this one were to make it, it had better be expensive!

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Nice idea though.

Oh, I agree, it should be expensive... yet, it's kinda like playing chess where you take off pieces to balance skill levels... (and let's face it... skill level is the majority of what higher value teams have over lower value ones)....

Wonder how many of you ball-breaker coaches could come back and win against a 1-0 AND kicking to them (if you lose the flip)?!

I ball-parked the value at 400,000 though it may be more... but if I'm that far ahead, I should be rolling massively over you anyway....

1 automatic TD? I'd probably say around the 200k mark. Wizards are 150k and ought to prevent your opponent scoring once or enable you to do so.

If you mean to even the scores up regardless of where they are (so make 2-0, 2-2 for instance) then probably 400k plus.

Yeah, Ian, the score would be 1-0 at the start (if inducing one TD)....

Curious, Ian, are we all just knee-jerkin' at the aspect of giving a pre-game TD...? You give a much more conservative estimate of 200k and what sounds like good reasoning to back it....

For one, a Wizard is well underpriced at 150K. Second, they are better if you don't use them, as it forces your opponent to play every turn as if you would. Third, they are not guaranteed to work or get you a TD, thought they can be awesome.

A guaranteed TD is worth plenty more than a wizard IMO. :)

Maybe you are right and 200k is too low. Its also probably nearer the money rather than being overpriced as inducements ought to be. Maybe 300k is more like it.

For or against some teams its more valuable - e.g. Khemri or Dwarves - which is probably a good thing since if you are playing 300k down against Dwarves you want him to have to worry about scoring three times.

Against Wood elves it probably wont matter and you'd be better off with something else.

How about roughly ~400kgp for negating the Overdog's first TD? (Bribe the scorekeeper, or "We were robbed!" :-? )

This way, the underdog still has to score in order to win while the overdog has a harder time pulling off the patented 2-1 grind gameplan.

I would have love that!!! No grinding stalling for the overdog!!! When the opponent makes the first TD, roll a dice. On a 2+ player didn't score. Like a bribe thing.

would be good against all teams, not just bashers. against woodies, you would just have to play for a 1-1 draw: i.e. they can score once but you just keep the ball when you recieve and bash bash bash. hopefully scoring at the end of either half, without worrying about a slow cage being stopped in the first half.

I would say 400k to 500k.

Basically, I think a wizard is only worth about half a touchdown per game. I have some rather fuzzy estimates I used to come up with this figure, but roughly I think a fireball stops the opponent from scoring about 34% of the time, and allows you to turn an opponents score into one of your own half of those times (17%) to account for the 50% figure.

That would put the value at 300k compared to the wizard, with a 33% inducement tax bringing it to 400k. I would also add on a "certainty tax" since there are no odds of failure to bring it up to 500k. If it were dependent upon a 2+ d6 roll (or a 2+ roll to remove a TD from the other team, etc.) then 400k would be OK.

I think such an inducement is probably a bad idea, but that is how I would cost it. I'm surprised that I would figure it to be so close to Morg's price... I think having a TD advantage is worth sooo much more than Morg!
