Nippon Team
I've seen this roster on this form:
0-16 Linemen 50k 6/3/3/8 None G
0-2 Ninja: 7/3/3/7 Shadowing, Dodge 80k
0-2 Samurai: 6/3/3/9 Block, Nerves of Steel 90k
0-2 Sumo: 4/4/3/8 Grab, Stand Firm 100k
And I think it's pretty cool, do you think one of the existing rosters could make a good Nippon replacement?

I've used a Chaos Dwarf roster, but I didn't have all the positions you had.
I used dwarves as samurai, linemen as peasants, bull centaurs as protector dieties Agyo and Ungyo. I named my minotaur after the Prime Minister at the time, Koizumi.
Anyway, none of the rosters work too well without house rules, but if I needed to choose one, I'd go orcs. Blitzers as samuraii, blockers as sumos, ninjas as goblins. The linemen are linemen, and drop the thrower and troll.
But that's not too great- after all, ninjas are not goblins!
House-ruling it a bit, I'd probably take the necros, drop team wide regen, and convert the Flesh Golem to a sumo, the wight to a Samuraii, the zombie to a lineman, and the ghoul to a ninja. drop the werewolves altogether.
So you'd have:
0-2 Sumos 4 4 2 9 Stand Firm
0-2 Ninjas 7 3 3 7 Dodge
0-2 Samurai 6 3 3 8 Block
0-16 Linemen 4 3 2 8
Almost no houseruling, just dropping the regen. Of course that line-up is awful, so I would probably just change to human lineman and give the ninja shadowing. Down the line, maybe increase the samurai to 0-4?

I agree with whitetiger that 0-16 ST4 linemen is probably over the top, since there's currently no team that can start with more than 6 ST4 players.
I like the idea of using an existing roster and just proxying the figs. I could see a few teams working pretty well, but Norse would be a nice fit - Samurai as Berserkers, Sumos as Ulfwerener, and Ninjas as Runners.
I don't like the idea of a special "Nippon" team any more than I like the idea of a Bretonnian team, though.

Exactly what my Norse team is using Impact!/PhilsPhigs Divine Wind figures (the BishiBashi Dragons). Had to convert a couple of of Samurai in to throwers using the arms sprue and a bit of green stuff. Used a GW dryad (the old ones, they looked like mini treemen) as a Bonsai Treeman instead of the troll.DDogwood wrote:I like the idea of using an existing roster and just proxying the figs. Then I felt like a right twit 'cos I'd been planning on using the Shadowforge Orcs as my Norse and now have no excuse to get them... I'm a dingus

I'm up for any new team that adds something to the game, like the Slanns leapy team or the Underworlds inability to get along on the pitch. The suggested rosters probably wouldn't. Maybe if the roster was based on Wrestle, Fend and Grab to make it a more martial arts based it would appeal (all about the trips, throws, holding off your opponent until you're ready to stirke, and take downs). I haven't had enough experience with lots of these skills on a team to know how it would play out with them all over the place though.

I think the original roster suggested added little to the game. That's probably why the roster has been around for years and never been all that popular.Igor Tahavanale wrote: I'm up for any new team that adds something to the game... The suggested rosters probably wouldn't.
The roster I suggested was designed to add almost absolutely nothing to the game

I think a team like that could be workable.
0-16 Linos 5 3 3 8 40k
0-2 Samurai 6 3 3 8 wrestle 60k
0-2 Ninja 7 3 3 7 fend 70k
0-2 Sumos 4 4 2 9 grab 90k
Make rerolls 50k or 60k.
