Master Chef

Post by Geoff Watson »

The halfling team has been weakened in LRB5 by the worsening of the Master Chef.

Here's a couple of ideas for improving the MC:

1.) Allow it to be taken multiple times.

2.) A Master Chef positional.

4/2/3/8 Dodge, Stunty, Stab, Cooking*

* Cooking (Extraordiary) if this player is in the Reserve box at the start of a half, gain the benefits of a Master Chef inducement.

What do you think?

Geoff.

I like, although I'd change the multiple MCs to extra ingredients (to have the same effect as another MC, or add 1 to the reroll steal roll).

How much for the MC positional? 100k? I'd keep him at AV6, or possibly bump him yo 7 though.

I agree that the halfling team has been crippled - but I have high hopes that the LRB6 playtest material will include several buffs. [fingers crossed].

Personally, I think that the team needs some fixing in some on-pitch way, rather than just buffing the coaching staff. Crap team with weird help doesn't quite do it for me.

However, from your list I'd say:
a) allow 1 cheap permanent Master Chef. And:
b) allow the team to induce a (second) Master Chef, just like any other team.

Cheers
Martin :D

PS, as for on-pitch help, plenty of possibilities. Best ones (IMO) are dryads, fatfellows (ST3) and halflings with knives (stab). Oh, and my favourite, which I think the BBRC are looking at: LONER off the treemen.

That is definitely the right way to go. One Masterchef for free as permanent part of the team, a second - if the team is really the underdog and can afford to induce it - as inducement option.

I like all of them.
Another thing we playtest in our tabletop league are 0-4 'flings with access to gen-skills (EXCEPT block) on normal skill roles. That seems to work out fine, we even think about allowing the whole team that skill access. Suddenly, you have skills that are worth taking... wrestle, dauntless, surehands, kick. Improves them while keeping their weaknesses (ma5, st2, av6).
