Under the MBBL League rules you'll find rules for field goals. So far in the MBBL ... 2 have been scored that I know of in 40 games.

KS,

You don't want a lot of hope. The game is all about the Touchdowns. Kicking is a last resort type thing added to make for dramatic plays in the final seconds. Its not meant to replace TDs as the optimal way to score. Although they are difficult enough that Chet has considered Mestari comment that maybe TD and FGs should both be worth 1 point. Would really change some defensive setups but given the level of difficulty, it could actually work.

I have to disagree Galak.

Our league is using almost the same kicking rules and we see them on a far higher ratio. In 60 Games there occured over 40 Field goals ... unfortunately we didn't count the attempts, but there were many more tries ...

The changes we made, was little range adjustment, and the point an successful fielg goal gains (2points/ TD 3)

If you are using the current rules that Chet created ... that surprises me.

Field goals are just not easy to make. With a 4+ roll to be away for a normal player, -2 mod penalty for trying to kick a field goal in a wide zone, and the only way for a shanked kick to score is to be one square away ... the cost/benefit just isn't there for the vast majority of players is what we are finding.

We use almost the same rules. We roll with an d8 instead of the d6 for range, but that hardly matters at all as our endzones are 2 squares broad.

I do not remember about the points, but you get 2 points for a FG and 3 for an TD.

At first we have had an moderate rate of FG but as the Kickers in the teams developed the rate increased.

I agree with you, that you really need a good kicker to succeed with FGs.
An Elven Kicker with Accurate-Kick and Kick hasn't to bad chances while kicking from the midfield (2+ if I remember the rules right).

But in the End of the season much more TDs were scored than FGs.

An Elf with Accurate Kick needs a 3+ to get the ball away (Kick just allows a reroll). Add trust me that D8 would matter that one extra square even after factoring out the 2 square endzone is a big help.

High MA helps but if we changed the rules in the MBBL to D6+(D2/2) for distance (as Relborn's league basically did) ... Kicking would get a whole lot easier ... especially for those MA 8 and 9 players.

Galak: It seems our league forgott to take the basic -1 for trying a FG. We always thought an FG try was without modifier (AG+0). That declares why there were much more tries in our league ...

I think you've underestimated teh impact of FG's on teh game drastically, galak. Already, in about 9 years of playing teh game, I have learnt one very simple concept that u seem to be ignoring if u want a balanced game:
Its teh score that determines teh outcome of teh game. Only teh score. In teh vast majority of cases, higher agility+movement teams score more.
What teh kicking rules do is give these teams another way of scoring. Most of them can make an attempt easily enough in one turn, negating any attempt at mounting a real defence. This also takes out another element teams like mine rely on... playing down teh clock.
Now I am quite happy to play against high AG/MA teams. They have a natural advantage in ball handling/ running teh ball as well as passing plays. I have teh advantage in strength. That's how its always been, and it makes for a good challenge. But giving these teams another way of adding to teh score that they are naturally more skilled at? To me, it seems like just creating an imbalance in teh game.
