Dark Elves / Driders

Let's face it: Dark Elves are allowed 4 Blitzers since they're simply too weak otherwise. On the other hand, 4 Blitzers doesn't seem right, a team should have 2 Blitzers IMHO (so this problem accounts for Orcs too).
A possible solution of the DE-inconsistency: Make 2 Driders available for DEs. They should be somewhat bull-centaurish as far as their overall power is concerned and would nicely fit into the DE-background. Furthermore, they'd be the first arachnoid-typish players on the pitch.
So, does anyone out there have a suggestion what their proper stat-values, skills and traits should be?

Since when?
Never heard of them, and I've been reading WFB fluff and rules since 3rd ed.

Well, admittedly you're right actually. Thought primarily of DEs as drow. Menzoberanzzan Matriarchs might still be interested in hiring 1 or 2 of 'em.

Ohhh, bad call. Never, ever compare GW De's to TSR Drow, you'll get the GW and TSR lawyers chasing you down to fling your immortal soul to the depths of hell

Plenty of teams have 4...all the human types, orcs, undead (wights), etc. Besides, Dark Elves have been competing well for a long time with 2 blitzers...they were given 4 primarily as compensation for not getting access to big guys in the new rules, which in my opinion the Dark Elves are BIG winners in that deal.
Driders are a bad idea...they don't fit GW fluff at all...don't confuse your D&D and your GW. Besides, Driders would require a LOT of special rules, and a whole bunch of silliness to work.
If you REALLY don't like 4 DE blitzers, you could house rule Dark Elf catchers in your league or something like that. 100k for a DE line elf with +1MA and catch if you want (basically it'd be a blitzer that started w.catch instead of blk)
But leave the driders out.

Apart from you mixing TSR with GW fluff, the inclusion of half-spider-half-DE would push the team even more into the RPG/Fantasy Battle corner, which many (experienced) coaches dislike. Blood Bowl should not be RPG or a tabletop battle with a ball, its Fantasy Football with its own feeling.
Actually, I try to tinker round with the Goblin roster, but frankly, we should not change the team compositions at all. The teams in the LRB are pretty much balanced (except the crappy stunties, of course). For my taste it's enough, that we have to suffer the BBMag experimental/WFB roster-crap, until it gets balanced and consolidated.

Actually... GW does have Dark Riders for the Dark Elves.
Warmaster has Dark Riders who are Dark Elves on horseback with crossbows.
I have a unit of them in my army... work well actually.
I have thought of adding another position to DE as well, I like the MBBL2 and the addition of the Harpy, the DE need access to a Big Guy... or maybe even a Cold One?? with Stats like the Kroxigor?

If you were going to add a new position (though I personally don't think they need it) I would go for the harpy, would seem to fit better. The cold one is just a mount, doesn't really fit in a game that is based on American football (shouldn't be players riding anything, unless you want to do a BB polo varient....hmmm).

Yes I can see it now - Goblin wolf riders, Elven steeds, human knights. But what about Dwarves?

One dwarf on the shoulders of another. Or Steam powered conveyances.

He means Driders (D&D), not D.Riders (WFB)

According to the 2 Dark Elf coaches who have hired one, the Harpy is the worst player ever created for a Blood Bowl team .... I feel like I did good everytime I hear this ...

For the record, I like the DEs as they are, but rather than slamming on the idea, how's about some suggestions?
Sprint, Sure Feet (the usual for multiple legs), and maybe Hypnotic Gaze or Tentacles (for a web, obviously...), Foul Appearance, Stand Firm (stick to the ground).
6 4 3 8, Sprint, Sure Feet, Foul Appearance, G, S, 120k
Eh. Nothing special, but it's a start. And you'd get to use your cool mini...
