Looks like a very reasonable ogre roster.
I like it.
Hope it pans out

Well i hope it doesn't. It still doesn't make sense to me that some ogres would be average size (i.e. not "big guys"), especially since the minis are pretty big.

Like bull centaurs :/
I tihnk the whole team should have big guy as well though, they are all ogres and if they are better than the standard rookie ogre another coach would have paid the money to get one on their team.

Grumbledook and Zombie are right. BG for all Ogres!
It's their birthright, actually. Think of it as a gift.

Continued debate split of from other post.
For those of you joining late, the debate is currently discussing this roster as an alternate to the one in BB Mag #6:
Code: Select all
0-12 Ogre Blocker 5 5 1 9 Mighty Blow, Really Stupid, TSkull, Big Guy
100k G/S
0-4 Ogre Blitzer 5 5 2 9 Bonehead, Mighty Blow, TSkull, TTM
120k G/S
0-4 Goblin Catcher 6 2 3 7 Dodge, Stunty, Right Stuff
40k A
70k Rerolls

I have a logistical question.
How do I tell the difference between a blocker and blitzer model?

Same way u would with anyone using nonstandard mini's (conversions and alternate teams), ask your opponent. The number that should be painted/decalled on the mini. I shouldnt have to give my Dark Eldar converted to blitzer special shoulder pads nor should the Ogre coach need to convert just to make it obvious (and how would u) which is which.

Why are the Ogre Blockers ST5? Why not make them ST4 and just leave them Bonehead?

Cos ST4 Ogres will never get "official" status

I've been SOOOOO waiting for this question and bless my luck a BBRC member asks it ... Galak grins with glee.
When I paint up my Ogre team, it will be very simple. There are multiple heads. Looks like there might be 3 with no face mask or helmet ... so these 3 are the Blockers. The helmets with just the 2 eye slits are the Blitzers ... ie ...not a problem at all. Depending the mix you get of heads decide whether face masks are or are not Blitzers. Oh and since the Blockers don't have TTM ... any Ogre Throwers are of course Blitzers as well if you include them on your team.
Along the same lines, you could use 4 Ogre Throwers (which would come with the 4 new Goblin figs) and then 8 of the normal Ogres to represent your team as well if you desired .. piece of cake.
So there you go Neo ... 2 different very easy and simple ways to have Blockers and Blitzers ... I don't see the problem at all.
Oh and ST 4 Ogres won't get past Andy and JJ, so an ST 5 route was required.

I don't see why not. Are all Ogres super strong? If so, why don't we make the Blitzers ST6?
It just looks lame. I know you're right, though. I just figure that the majority of the Ogre populous would be more along the lines of a Black Orc. Those would be the line fodder and the really special ones would be the Rookie BG/Blitzer types.

Would it make you happier to change add a special rule "can use rerolls" the sole purpose of which is to cancel out the negative trait "big guy" which translates as "can't use rerolls"?
I don't see your point at all. You're arguing on the basis of nomenclature, not rules - which doesn't seem like you.

One bit I don't understand is the continued call for Goblins on the roster.
I understand the need to be able to start with eleven players, but giving them Goblins actually gives them viable offense.
Given all the debate and seeming resolution to fixing the Khemri team (all AG 2), why aren't the Ogres being subjected to the same limitation?

Whats the fun in an Ogre team if you don't get to lob stunties downfield?
